The Sterile Compounding Quality and Compliance technician will monitor adherence to policies and best practices as they relate to the AHS sterile compounding program, USP <797> and USP <800>. The SCQC technician will collaborate with the sterile compounding leadership team to maintain team member competencies through personnel training and evaluation as required by policy and regulatory standards.
Job Description:
- Train pharmacists and technicians performing sterile compounding in activities pertaining to sterile compounding SOPs
- Perform competency assessments on pharmacy personnel performing Hazardous and Non-Hazardous sterile compounding activities
- Perform training and competency assessments for non-pharmacy team members on adherence to sterile compounding SOPs pertaining to their scope of responsibility
- Perform viable environmental sampling to demonstrate the sterile compounding suite maintains a steady state of microbial control
- Perform preventative maintenance tasks to ensure integrity of engineering controls and other equipment in the compounding areas
- Communicate to pharmacy leadership identified deficiencies of personnel and physical spaces requiring attention and correction
- Assist pharmacy leadership in developing key performance indicators and conduct compliance audits related to the sterile compounding compliance program
- Contribute to the effective operation of the department by enforcing and complying with institutional and departmental policies and procedures
- Promote patient safety through effective instruction and communication of best practices to team members

Education/Experience
- High School Diploma Required. Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Two (2) to three (3) years of sterile compounding experience is required.
- Individual should be proficient in both hazardous and non-hazardous compounding.
- Knowledge of regulations related to sterile compounding is preferred.
Qualifications/Skills:
- Effective communication and organization
- PTCB certification required
- Certified Compounded Sterile Preparation Technician (CSPT) certification preferred within 6 months of start of position
