Accountabilities:

    As the Director of Engineering - Data & Insights, you will oversee engineering strategy, team development, and the delivery of scalable data-driven solutions. You will be responsible for aligning technical initiatives with business objectives, improving engineering practices, and fostering a culture of ownership and innovation.

    • Lead and manage multiple software engineering teams, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, delivery expectations, and technical priorities.
    • Develop and mentor engineering managers and senior engineers, supporting leadership growth, career progression, and team performance.
    • Build, recruit, and retain diverse, high-performing engineering teams capable of delivering impactful SaaS solutions.
    • Define and communicate long-term technical strategies for data platforms, engineering architecture, and product scalability.
    • Partner with executive leadership to translate business objectives into actionable engineering roadmaps and initiatives.
    • Collaborate with product management teams to prioritize development efforts, allocate resources, and ensure successful delivery.
    • Oversee the design and development of advanced data solutions, including scalable architectures, data pipelines, and analytics platforms.
    • Drive improvements in engineering processes, including agile methodologies, continuous delivery, automation, and operational excellence.
    • Promote a proactive engineering culture focused on reliability, ownership, and solving customer-impacting challenges.
    • Ensure teams follow best practices around software development, testing, scalability, security, and service-oriented architecture.
    • Manage engineering budgets and resources while balancing business needs, technical investments, and operational efficiency.
    • Communicate technical progress, risks, and outcomes to leadership teams and ensure alignment across stakeholders.
    • Collaborate with customers, partners, and external stakeholders when needed to provide technical guidance and ensure successful delivery.
    • Requirements:

      The ideal candidate is an experienced engineering leader with a strong background in SaaS platforms, data engineering, and team management. You should combine technical depth with strong leadership skills and the ability to operate effectively in a dynamic, AI-driven environment.

      • 10+ years of experience in software development, preferably within SaaS or large-scale technology environments.
      • Proven experience leading and scaling engineering teams, including hiring, mentoring, and developing engineering leaders.
      • Strong expertise in data engineering, including data warehouse architecture, ETL/ELT pipelines, and data lake patterns.
      • Experience with AWS data services and cloud-based architectures.
      • Advanced SQL skills with analytical query engines such as Redshift, BigQuery, or similar technologies.
      • Familiarity with streaming and near-real-time data processing technologies such as Kafka, Kinesis, or equivalent solutions.
      • Demonstrated ownership of data quality, governance, schema management, and scalable data solutions.
      • Experience managing the complete software development lifecycle for enterprise SaaS applications.
      • Strong understanding of distributed systems, scalable architectures, and fault-tolerant software development.
      • Experience working with agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban.
      • Ability to leverage AI tools such as ChatGPT, Copilot, or Claude to improve productivity, documentation, analysis, and engineering workflows.
      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to engage technical and executive audiences.
      • Ability to work core business hours aligned with the US Eastern Time zone.
      • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related technical field is preferred.
      • Experience with e-commerce, retail, digital marketplaces, or commerce technology environments is a plus.
      • Familiarity with Databricks, medallion architecture, BI platforms such as Tableau, Looker, or Power BI, and modern AI/data tooling is beneficial.
      • Benefits:

        • Competitive base salary range of $175,000 - $328,000 USD annually, depending on experience, skills, qualifications, and location.
        • Discretionary bonus opportunity of 15% of annual base salary.
