Position Overview

The Digital Design Specialist supports Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Building Information Modeling (BIM) technologies by leading the conversion,governance, and quality of P&IDs and 3D models across operations and capital projects within a Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) regulated facility.This role operates autonomously, applying advanced problem-solving to complex models, data and standards while influencing stakeholders with varyinglevels of familiarity with CAD and BIM. Additionally, this role works closely with project teams to streamline workflows, enhance data integrity, and supportthe successful execution of projects.

Job Description

What You'll Do:

  • Cleans, audits, and converts P&IDs and 3D models to align with project and organizational standards
  • Updates CAD/model files from engineering redlines (red-to-black) and manages formal revisions
  • Organizes and refines 3D model geometry for architectural, MEP, and complex process equipment
  • Links documents, models, P&IDs, and tags to ensure traceability, data integrity, and consistency
  • Maintains file versions, uploads, xrefs/links, and drawing references across platforms to meet deadlines and accessibility requirements
  • Performs documentation and cleanup tasks to support engineering, operations, and cross-functional deliverables
  • Generates reports and dashboards for model, P&ID, tag, and turnover status tracking
  • Supports clash detection and model coordination (e.g., Navisworks, ACC Coordination)
  • Prepares documentation to support audit and compliance requirements (including GMP)
  • Supports data entry, validation, and governance for P&ID tags, line lists, and asset databases while managing assignment of equipment tags, line anddrawing numbers
  • Creates and revises CAD/BIM documentation for both GMP and non-GMP requests, adhering to controlled procedures
  • Administers the CAD/BIM environment, databases, content libraries, templates, processes, and standards per documented guideline
  •  Ensures BIM deliverables comply with GMP documentation, and validation, and audit readiness
  • Revises BIM documentation for both GMP and non-GMP requests and reuseable guides or job aids, as needed
  • Trains CAD/BIM staff on core application skills and standards and service users on procedures and request workflows
  • Supports to the Engineering Documentation team for vendor drawing updates and turnovers
  • Provides hands-on CAD/BIM support to engineering, maintenance, and facility projects (e.g., valve lists, line schedules, work orders) including GMP andnon-GMP requests
  • Performs other duties, as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field with 5 years ofexperience in the AEC industry; or
  • Associate’s degree within a technical discipline or drafting and design with 7 years of experience in the AEC industry; or

Preferred Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering with 5 years in a BIM coordinator orsimilar role
  • Prior client-facing experience, including leading coordinationmeetings and delivering BIM-related presentations
