Job Description:

The Human Resource Business Partner Director serves as a strategic advisor to executive leaders across Intermountain Health's Utah North Market, supporting the administrative leadership teams at McKay-Dee Hospital and Layton Hospital. This role builds trusted partnerships with senior leaders to understand evolving operational priorities and develop talent, culture, workforce, organizational effectiveness, and leadership strategies that support exceptional caregiver and patient outcomes.

As a key member of the leadership team, the HR Business Partner Director provides consultative support across a complex healthcare environment, influencing decisions that impact organizational performance, leadership effectiveness, employee engagement, and the caregiver experience. The position partners with leaders across hospital operations, ambulatory services, health plans, shared services, and other business functions to align people strategies with enterprise objectives.

This role is primarily based onsite (4 days/week), with regular presence at both McKay-Dee Hospital and Layton Hospital, and most frequently located at the McKay-Dee campus. The ideal candidate brings strong healthcare operations experience, preferably within a hospital setting, and has a demonstrated ability to support senior leaders in large, complex, and fast-paced environments. Experience supporting a Level I Trauma Center, large acute-care facility, or similarly complex healthcare operation is highly desirable.

Essential Functions

  • Serve as a strategic partner to executive business leaders, providing HR guidance and support aligned with business objectives. 
  • Develop and execute HR strategies that align with the organization's vision and objectives. 
  • Collaborate with executive business leaders to identify and address organizational development needs. 
  • Drive the implementation of HR programs that enhance employee engagement and productivity. 
  • Oversee the analysis and reporting of HR metrics to inform decision-making and measure the impact of HR initiatives. 
  • Influence and support a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, and position Intermountain Health as an employer of choice.
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations.
  • Leverage Intermountain’s Operating Model (Continuous Improvement) to develop and implement data-informed solutions that will support a dynamic growing business.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Progressive professional experience in business and Human Resources leading projects and teams with demonstrated success
  • Demonstrated experience of all areas within HR functions including employee relations; organizational development/training; benefits; compensation; legal and regulatory compliance; and diversity.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and coach leaders, and strong facilitation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and perform with a high degree of autonomy, organization, and adaptability.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree. Education must be obtained through an accredited institution. Degree will be verified.
  • HR experience supporting a Level I Trauma Center, large acute-care facility, or similarly complex healthcare operation.
  • A focus on understanding the needs of the organization and supporting organization leaders with a customer focused, internal consultancy, service orientation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of data analysis, reporting and continuous improvement principles.

  • Operate computers, telephones, office equipment, and manipulate paper requiring the ability to move fingers and hands.
  • See and read computer monitors and documents.
  • Remain sitting or standing for long periods of time to perform work on a computer, telephone, or other equipment.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience. 

$59.50 - $91.84
