Under the general direction of the Nurse Manager of Trauma Services, performs a variety of duties essential to maintaining the Trauma Registry as mandated by the Department of Health.  Responsible for coordinating the daily operations of the Trauma Registry by coding and abstracting the clinical and demographic data from patient records.  The Trauma Registrar displays the ability to work independently and with the team. She/he assumes accountability for all work performed.

Required qualifications:

  • Coursework/Training of Medical terminology.
  • Coursework/Training of Human anatomy.
  • Knowledge of Medical terminology.
  • 1 year of Healthcare or related setting.
  • 1 year of Medical record abstracting and/or coding.
  • 1 year of Medical registry or 2+ years working in a healthcare-related field.
  • 1 year Injury severity coding and reimbursement coding.
  •  

Preferred qualifications:

  • Coursework/Training of Medical coding.
  • Upon hire: Certified Specialist in Trauma Registries (CSTR).
