Accountabilities:

    The Associate Scientist will be responsible for managing research trials, analyzing agricultural data, and supporting product development strategies through high-quality field evaluations. The role requires strong scientific knowledge, collaboration skills, and the ability to translate technical findings into actionable recommendations.

    • Manage internal and external field trials, ensuring high-quality data collection to support product development decisions.
    • Contribute to product advancement and launch strategies based on variety performance and technical trial results.
    • Collaborate with internal teams to develop annual trial plans aligned with business and research objectives.
    • Organize external trials with growers across assigned vegetable crops and production areas.
    • Select suitable fields and greenhouse locations according to target customer segments and trial requirements.
    • Prepare and manage agreements with growers participating in research activities.
    • Coordinate trial execution, including sowing, planting, harvesting, labeling, and critical crop evaluation stages.
    • Collect field data throughout crop cycles, including yield assessments and performance evaluations according to trial protocols.
    • Analyze trial results and provide recommendations regarding product performance and positioning.
    • Use databases and specialized systems to plan trials, manage information, analyze results, and visualize data.
    • Organize product development visits and presentations of trials and new candidate varieties.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with growers, distributors, processors, and agricultural partners.
    • Collaborate with commercial teams to develop customer-focused field activities and accelerate knowledge sharing.
    • Maintain compliance with health, safety, environmental, quality, and ethical standards.
    • Requirements:

      The ideal candidate has a strong background in agronomy, horticulture, and agricultural research, with experience in field trials, plant science, and data-driven decision-making. This professional should demonstrate technical expertise, communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with different stakeholders.

      • Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy.
      • Master’s degree in Horticulture, Agriculture, Plant Breeding, Plant Genetics, or a related field.
      • Professional proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
      • Availability for frequent travel, approximately 25% to 50% of the time.
      • Active CNH category B driver’s license.
      • Knowledge of plant genetics and breeding principles.
      • Experience with field trial planning, experimental design, and analysis of phenotypic and environmental data.
      • Strong understanding of agronomy and crop production techniques.
      • Advanced knowledge of vegetable crops and agricultural practices.
      • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
      • Preferred qualifications:

        • Experience managing variety trials, preferably with vegetables.
        • Experience collecting and analyzing environmental data from field trials.
        • Knowledge of agricultural technologies and production applications.
        • Experience working with growers, agricultural companies, or vegetable production value chains.
        • Understanding of vegetable markets and crop-specific requirements.
        • Basic knowledge of plant breeding principles and modeling concepts.
        • Experience working in international organizations or multicultural environments.
        • Experience delivering technical presentations.
        • Experience with statistical analysis software such as SAS, JMP, R, or Python.
        • Additional requirements:

          • Ability to work in outdoor fields and greenhouse environments under varying temperature conditions.
          • Ability to lift loads up to 23 kg and work extended hours during critical crop periods.
          • Willingness to work across field, greenhouse, laboratory, and office environments.
          • Availability for national and occasional international travel, including overnight stays.
          • Ability to work in production areas for extended periods during seasonal activities.
          • Comfort working around potential allergens such as pollen, fungal spores, and agricultural chemicals.
