Director, Payor Partnerships – Value-Based Care Business Development

Location: 2000 16th Street, Denver, Colorado, 80202 (Hybrid: Tuesday–Thursday in-office)

About the Team: DaVita’s Payor Partnerships team manages an $8B revenue portfolio and a rapidly growing, national value-based care (VBC) business covering over $5B in medical spend. We are a fast-paced team with deep expertise in negotiations, managed care, finance, and consulting, positioned at the center of DaVita’s strategic shift toward value-based care.

Within this group, the Business Development function drives our long-term payor relationships and growth strategy. We operate with a shared focus on delivering results,

thinking creatively, and having fun.

The Role: As the Director of Business Development, you are a highly visible, external-facing leader acting as the voice of DaVita in the market. You will directly own and shape our pipeline of national and regional payor accounts, advocating for our Integrated Kidney Care (IKC) value-based care models. This is a unique opportunity for a strong strategic thinker and dealmaker who wants to directly impact both DaVita’s revenue and the healthcare system at large. In this role, you will also lead and mentor a small, but high-performing team, with at least one Manager+ level teammate reporting directly to you.

Core Responsibilities:

·        Drive IKC Growth & Partnerships: Lead the strategic vision to pitch our VBC models to health plans, translating complex clinical and financial concepts into compelling partnership opportunities. Drive the strategy to convert national pipelines, launch our new regional platform, and accelerate new partnerships.

·        Deepen Payor Relationships: Design and execute a sophisticated market engagement strategy. Represent DaVita at key industry conferences, networking events, and high-stakes meetings, helping to build resilient partnerships with C-suite and senior-level payor executives.

·        Refine the External Value Proposition: Oversee the development of best-in-class external collateral—including pitch decks, clinical outcomes one-pagers, and white papers—to continuously showcase our differentiated value to the market.

·        Lead Strategic Analytics & Deal Structuring: Lead the analytics development required for complex business cases and strategic decision-making. Create and deliver highly persuasive presentations to both internal senior executives and external C-level partners.

·        Team Leadership & Development: Manage, mentor, and develop a small team of Business Development professionals. Enhance onboarding content, foster cross-functional collaboration, and guide your team in executing complex deal work.

Minimum Qualifications:

·        8+ years of experience in fast-paced, deal-oriented environments such as healthcare strategy, business/corporate development, or consulting (experience with a top-tier consulting firm, provider, or payor highly preferred).

·        Exceptional Executive Presence: Demonstrated gravitas and comfort presenting to, negotiating with, and influencing external C-suite and VP-level payor executives.

·        Strategic Problem Solving: Proven ability to bring structure to complex, ambiguous business challenges and guide teams to actionable insights.

·        Effective Communication: Highly skilled at developing crisp, persuasive, and well-formatted presentations (highly proficient in PowerPoint and Excel).

·        High degree of ownership, accountability, and a “get stuff done” mindset.

·        Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree highly preferred.

Additional Success Factors:

·        Thrives on the "sport of deal work" with a natural curiosity and competitive drive to grow the business.

·        Serves as a polished, persuasive external voice capable of navigating complex stakeholder environments with tact.

·        Mission-driven with a commitment to DaVita's core values and a leadership style grounded in empathy, belonging, and talent development.

What We’ll Provide: More than just pay, our DaVita Rewards package connects teammates to what matters most.

·        Comprehensive benefits: Medical, dental, vision, 401(k) match, paid time off, PTO cash out.

·        Support for you and your family: Family resources, EAP counseling sessions, access Headspace®, backup child and elder care, maternity/paternity leave and more.

·        Professional development: Programs to help strong performers grow, including on-demand virtual leadership courses through DaVita’s Star Learning platform.
