NVIDIA is looking for a MDE (Manufacturing Development Engineering) team focuses on NPI mechanical assembly readiness, support all products NVIDIA develops, perform manufacturing DFA (Design for assembly) development and finding MFD (Manufacturing for design) solutions. Drive manufacturing feedback and implement industry standards to NVIDIA hardware engineering teams and CEM, engage CEM early to study the design to develop manufacturing maturity at the same pace of product design
If you're creative & passionate about solving manufacturing development problems, come join our Ops engineering team
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Responsible for manufacturing (DFA) maturity development, perform detailed DFA analysis to reach system assembly process solutions
- Responsible for NPI CEM readiness, including DFX (design for manufacturing, DFA, design for automation) as well as process qualifications, Work with CEM to establish manufacturing specifications
- Develop mechanical assembly process, fixture and automation with CEM. Lead assembly fixture & jig development, assembly process step-by-step evaluation and validation, review CEM assembly readiness at each landmark, accountable for ensuring all manufacturing schedules to achieve NVIDIA business target, ultimately, SOL (Speed of Light)
- Responsible for CEM technical performance in the area of system assembly that meets NVIDIA specifications and technology requirements, evaluate tolerance capability to achieve assembly gap/step specifications
- Handle NPI manufacturing assembly issues, such as cosmetic issues due to handling damages, supervising health of fleet and initiate investigation of issues, root cause product failures and drive corrective action
- Recommend technology aids, product design changes and workspace layout modification to existing processes to achieve optimum quality and efficiency
- System assembly automation analysis, time and motion study, cycle time reduction, Assembly waste reduction, cost optimization proposals.
- Define key assumptions for the automation proposal, covering product architecture, harnesses, PCBs, component tolerances, fasteners, quick‑disconnects, testing, machine vision, cycle time, changeover, and DFX compliance. Establish the platform envelope to align product design with automation strategy. Review the full system to ensure motion control, vision, process logic, validation, and factory integration can be adapted quickly and reliably for new products.
- Develop and coordinate schedules, performance requirements, lead all aspects of project management process and develop missing or unclear processes to ensure the best methodology and to keep project on schedule and on budget
What We Need To See:
- Self-starter and self-motivated excellent teammate, strong can-do demeanor
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mechanical, manufacturing or related field, or equivalent, master’s degree in engineering is preferred. Committed partnership collaborations working with both external and internal counterparts
- 5+ years of mechanical assembly experience in manufacturing environment in one of the following fields, like consumer electronics, GPU, automotive or server related industries
- Practical experience of mechanical design and assembly & practical knowledge of system assembly, system testing and tolerance capability & strong familiarity with CAD tools, like Creo
- Experience in automation line development and validation. Define platform boundaries, identify common manufacturing traits and design principles to shape architecture, and assess product alignment with automation strategy. Establish guiding principles for modular, cell‑based automation to direct future development and investment.
- Solid interpersonal skills including attention to details, multitasking, and negotiation and presentation, technical and quality sensitive, effective problem-solvers through collaboration and analytical ability
- Experience in functional tolerance and/or geometric dimensioning and tolerance to sophisticated assembliesSolid understanding of basic electrical circuits & Familiar with all aspects of the NPI processGood understanding of commonly used testing & inspection method and instrument
Ways To Stand Out From The Crowd:
- Good at Manufacturing Development Thinking.
- Profound experience with mechanical assembly related knowledge
- Prior experience with GD&T, TA
- Profound experience with automation line design and validation
- Rich experience with mechanical architecture development
