Accountabilities:
- Design, build, deploy, and maintain scalable, highly available, and fault-tolerant cloud infrastructure using AWS.
- Own and continuously improve CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and engineering workflows to increase delivery speed and reliability.
- Develop and manage infrastructure as code using tools such as Terraform and Ansible while improving infrastructure consistency and scalability.
- Enhance system reliability through better monitoring, alerting, observability, operational documentation, and incident response practices using tools such as Grafana, Loki, Mimir, and Tempo.
- Research, evaluate, and introduce new technologies through proof-of-concepts and validated engineering improvements.
- Collaborate with software and data engineering teams on infrastructure design decisions and support critical platforms, including analytics and data science environments.
- Participate in an on-call rotation with limited after-hours involvement due to strong automation and self-healing systems.
- Mentor junior engineers and improve DevOps knowledge across engineering teams by promoting best practices around deployments, reliability, and observability.
- Maintain infrastructure documentation, operational runbooks, diagrams, and processes to support efficient team operations.
- 5+ years of experience designing, implementing, and operating highly available systems in cloud environments.
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS services such as EC2, ECR, CloudFront, Route 53, and related infrastructure technologies.
- Experience with containerization and workload orchestration technologies, including Docker and Nomad.
- Proficiency with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
- Strong understanding of CI/CD practices, automated testing, and deployment automation strategies.
- Advanced Linux administration skills with strong shell/bash scripting experience.
- Experience working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL and messaging systems such as RabbitMQ.
- Experience supporting regulated or compliance-driven environments, including HIPAA, SOC 2, PCI, or FedRAMP.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across engineering teams and mentor less experienced colleagues.
- Preferred experience with service mesh and secrets management tools such as Consul and Vault.
- Familiarity with data platforms and pipelines, networking, DNS, image building automation, or programming languages such as Python, Elixir, or TypeScript is a plus.
- Exposure to Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is also considered an advantage.
- Competitive salary range depending on location and experience:
- San Francisco/Bay Area, New York City: $140,000 – $194,000 USD
- Boston, Los Angeles, Seattle, Washington DC: $129,000 – $179,000 USD
- Arlington, Denver, San Diego, Sacramento: $123,000 – $172,000 USD
- Other eligible US locations: $109,000 – $156,000 USD depending on market.
