How you create impact
The National Finance Controller is a senior finance leader responsible for overseeing financial performance across multiple Contract Logistics sites across Canada. This role partners closely with business leadership to drive profitability, operational excellence, strategic growth, and strong financial governance while leading and developing a high-performing finance team.
Financial Leadership & Business Partnering
- Serve as a trusted advisor to Contract Logistics leadership, providing strategic financial insight and performance recommendations.
- Partner with operations, commercial, and support functions to drive accountability and business results.
- Present complex financial information and risks to senior stakeholders in a clear and actionable manner.
- Lead, coach, and develop finance team members while supporting succession planning and talent development.
Financial Control & Reporting
- Oversee monthly financial close activities, including P&L reporting, accruals, deferrals, revenue recognition, and GL entries in accordance with IFRS.
- Lead monthly business reviews, variance analysis, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Ensure accuracy of billing, payables, financial controls, and WMS audit processes.
- Monitor key finance KPIs and implement corrective actions as required.
Performance Management & Commercial Support
- Analyze customer and site profitability, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities to improve margins.
- Support pricing reviews, contract evaluations, and commercial decision-making to ensure sustainable financial performance.
- Provide strategic insights on rates, volumes, costs, and operational efficiencies.
Planning, Forecasting & Investment Governance
- Lead annual budgets, rolling forecasts, and financial target-setting processes.
- Deliver financial modeling, bridge analysis, risk assessments, and scenario planning to support decision-making.
- Review and challenge capital investment proposals and business cases, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and return expectations.
- Support customer implementations, including startup budgeting, cost tracking, and financial transition to operations.
Governance, Compliance & Working Capital
- Maintain strong financial governance, internal controls, and compliance standards across the portfolio.
- Support internal and external audits, ensuring timely and accurate responses.
- Manage working capital performance through oversight of receivables, billing accuracy, collections, and cash flow optimization.
- Ensure effective customer profitability and cost allocation methodologies.
Continuous Improvement
- Lead initiatives that enhance financial processes, controls, productivity, and operational efficiency.
- Partner with site leadership to identify and validate cost-saving and performance improvement opportunities.
- Drive standardization and scalability of financial processes across multiple locations.

What we would like you to bring
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Candidates with advanced degrees and/or a professional accounting designation (CPA, CMA, CGA, etc.) are highly preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, preferably within the 3PL, logistics, or freight forwarding industry.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel, with demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret complex data sets.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex financial concepts to diverse audiences and stakeholders.
- Experience with reporting and data visualization tools, such as Tableau, is considered a strong asset.Lean Six Sigma (LSS) Yellow Belt or Green Belt certification is considered an asset.

Base wage is part of a competitive total rewards package that includes health and dental benefits, a retirement savings plan, and tuition reimbursement. Individual pay may vary from the target range and is determined by a number of factors including experience, skills, job location, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations.
