OVERVIEW

As a Senior Raw Material Developer, you will play a key role in fabric development, leading the creation and evolution of a strong fabric library that supports Alo Yoga’s creative vision and performance standards.

In this role, you will oversee seasonal fabric developments, lead the redevelopment of core materials, and manage a direct report to foster growth and streamline workflows. Collaborating with mills and cross-functional teams, you will guide fabric developments from concept through bulk production, ensuring they uphold product integrity, quality, and profitability.

RESPONSIBILITIES  

  • Lead fabric sourcing, custom developments, and seasonal fabric fair presentations for the men’s collection, with occasional contributions to the women’s segment.
  • Redevelop core fabrics with key suppliers, both overseas and in-region, to ensure products meet performance specifications, testing requirements, and cost and quality standards.
  • Attend fabric shows, analyze market trends, and share key findings to Raw Materials and Design teams.
  • Strategize and resolve challenges related to fabric performance, lead times, and delivery.
  • Partner with mills and the Product Integrity team to ensure all fabrics meet third-party testing standards, adjusting materials as necessary.
  • Collaborate with the Material Coordinator to establish and maintain core fabric standards, ensuring data accuracy in PLM systems and development charts.
  • Own all seasonal color block testing for men’s and women’s teams ensuring thorough evaluation and timely feedback.
  • Lead special fabric developments for athlete-specific projects, the atelier, and chase programs, ensuring seamless integration into the broader product strategy.
  • Manage and mentor several direct reports, fostering growth, accountability, and high performance.
  • Oversee the delegation of workflows, providing constructive feedback and supporting team collaboration to ensure timely and successful project delivery.
  • Contribute to calendar planning, offering input on timelines and priorities.
  • Help establish and refine Standard Operating Procedures for the materials team to enhance efficiency and consistency.
  • Provide technical support to Design, ensuring the successful delivery of innovative, high-quality fabric solutions.
  • Manage SMS greige projections, ensuring alignment with PD team and garment factories.
  • Meet with mills both virtually and in-person to discuss new developments, troubleshoot issues, and ensure fabric quality and performance standards are met.
  • End to End wear-testing execution, tracking, and cross functional alignment.
  • Act as primary quality gatekeeper for bulk approvals, ensuring alignment to hand standars and performance expectations.
  • Drive vendor accountability through root cause analysis, corrective action, and delivery impact mitigation.
  • Lead cross functional alignment across Design, PD, Technical Design, and mill to resolve development challenges.
  • Provide strategic input on fabric adoption and category direction.
  • Ensure consistency from development through SMS, mini bulk and production.
  • Lead and participate in cross-functional meetings with senior leadership and executive stakeholders, clearly communicating material development status, risks, and key decisions.
  • Present fabric developments, quality concerns, and strategic recommendation to executive teams, ensuring alignment with brand standards and product vision.
  • Represent the Materials team in high-visibility meeting, ensuring material priorities and constraints are clearly understood at the executive level.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Over 6 years of experience with strong technical expertise in textiles, including fibers, yarns, material construction, finishes, and printing.
  • Experience with performance fabrications is highly preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage and mentor a direct report, ensuring team collaboration and effective delivery of results.
  • Established relationships with fabric suppliers, with a track record of navigating challenges to achieve solutions while maintaining positive relationships.
  • In-depth knowledge of AATCC and ASTM industry test methods and fabric manufacturing processes.
  • Experience attending fabric shows and presenting findings.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced environment with shifting deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PLM systems, ensuring accuracy in development records and charts.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and tactfully.

The base salary range for this position is $130,000-$140,000 per year which represents the current range for the base salary for this exempt position. Please note that actual salaries will vary based on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. As such, on occasion and when applicable, there is the possibility that the final, agreed-upon base salary may be outside of the upper end of the range. Please also note the range listed is just one component of the company’s total rewards package for exempt employees. Other rewards may include performance bonuses, long term incentives, a PTO policy, and many other progressive benefits.
