Accountabilities:
- Serve as the primary legal advisor for product launch activities, supporting advertising, promotion, and commercial strategy.
- Review and approve promotional materials through Medical, Legal, and Regulatory (MLR) processes, including healthcare professional and patient-facing communications.
- Provide guidance on promotional compliance topics such as claims substantiation, fair balance, comparative messaging, disease awareness communications, and regulatory requirements.
- Advise commercial teams on compliance with FDA OPDP expectations, FTC standards, industry guidelines, and promotional best practices.
- Support the development of compliant brand strategies and messaging while identifying risks and recommending actionable solutions.
- Deliver legal training and guidance to marketing, commercial, and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of agreements, including vendor services, commercial operations, supply, manufacturing, distribution, logistics, and market access contracts.
- Support payer agreements, reimbursement strategies, and innovative contracting models where applicable.
- Build and improve contracting frameworks, templates, processes, and negotiation resources to support organizational growth.
- Partner with clinical, commercial, market access, finance, compliance, and operational teams to deliver effective legal support.
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- Typically 3–5+ years of legal experience, with significant in-house experience in pharmaceutical or biotechnology environments preferred.
- Experience supporting life sciences clients in a law firm setting with exposure to in-house-style responsibilities also considered.
- Strong background drafting and negotiating R&D, clinical development, commercial vendor, operational, payer, market access, and general business agreements.
- Knowledge of legal and compliance considerations affecting emerging commercial-stage biotechnology or pharmaceutical organizations.
- Experience independently managing legal matters, prioritizing projects, and exercising sound business judgment.
- Strong understanding of advertising, promotional compliance, and commercial contracting requirements.
- Familiarity with contract management software and scalable legal operations processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong analytical ability, attention to detail, organizational skills, and project management capabilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, solve complex problems, and perform effectively in a fast-moving environment.
- Intellectual curiosity, accountability, flexibility, and a continuous learning mindset.
- Preferred experience supporting a clinical-to-commercial transition, first product launch, market access strategy, reimbursement initiatives, or contracting framework development.
- Base salary range of $240,000–$290,000 USD annually.
