Responsibilities
We are hiring! We are adding a Data Center Smart Hands Technician who would be responsible for providing onsite technical support for data center operations, including hardware installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, vendor escort and asset management. This role works closely with remote engineering teams, customers, and vendors to ensure reliable operation of critical infrastructure while following established customer and facility policies and procedures.
What You'll Do:
- Responsible for racking and stacking equipment, patch cabling, decommissioning equipment, equipment swaps and disposal activities.
- Support troubleshooting hardware issues with remote admins, facilities management, site security, vendor and customer escorts, inventory management and project engagement, as required.
- Will be onsite with our client in Ashburn, VA - M-F 8-5 and bi-weekly.
- On-call rotation for after hours support
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- High School level reading, writing, and analytical skills; Minimum of 1 year
- Hands-on experience installing, racking, stacking, cabling, decommissioning and replacing servers, network and storage equipment in an enterprise or government data center environment.
- Knowledge of structured cabling, patch panel management, cable routing, labeling and documentation best practices.
- Experience troubleshooting servers and hardware issues under the direction of remote system, storage or network administrators
- Strong communication and organizational skills with ability to coordinate activities with customers, vendors, and Data Center Operations team
- Required to be on site M-F 8-5 and Biweekly on-call rotation for afterhours/weekend support
- Must be a US citizen
- Must be able to obtain and maintain the required agency clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with ticketing and asset management systems such as ServiceNow or similar IT service management platforms
- Experience coordinating or supporting infrastructure projects, including hardware refreshes, migrations and deployments
- Knowledge of data center standards and power infrastructure, change management processes, and industry best practices for physical infrastructure operations.
