This role is a high-impact, craft-driven product design position focused on shaping the user experience of a modern laboratory operating system used in critical scientific environments. You will own end-to-end design work across discovery, research, interaction design, and high-fidelity UI, ensuring that complex workflows are transformed into intuitive, efficient, and highly usable product experiences. The role combines deep product thinking with strong execution, requiring both systems-level design judgment and hands-on Figma expertise. You will partner closely with product, engineering, and customer-facing teams to translate real user needs into scalable design solutions. This is a highly autonomous role where design quality, consistency, and usability directly influence product adoption and user satisfaction in mission-critical lab workflows.

You will partner closely with product, engineering, and customer-facing teams to translate real user needs into scalable design solutions. This is a highly autonomous role where design quality, consistency, and usability directly influence product adoption and user satisfaction in mission-critical lab workflows.

Accountabilities:

    • Lead end-to-end product design across key feature areas, from discovery and research through final UI and implementation-ready specifications.
    • Plan and conduct continuous user research and usability testing to understand workflows, identify pain points, and validate design decisions.
    • Translate research insights into clear problem definitions, journey maps, workflows, and actionable design opportunities.
    • Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs in Figma, ensuring clarity of behavior, interaction, and user intent.
    • Own and evolve the design system, including components, patterns, and design standards to ensure consistency and scalability.
    • Collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to align on scope, feasibility, and implementation trade-offs.
    • Improve usability, accessibility, and overall product experience through iterative testing and feedback loops.
    • Use AI tools to accelerate ideation, synthesis, prototyping, and content generation while maintaining high craft standards.
    • Ensure designs are implementation-ready and aligned with engineering constraints and scalable system architecture.
    • Requirements:

      • 6+ years of experience in product design, ideally within B2B SaaS or complex technical product environments.
      • Expert-level proficiency in Figma, including components, auto layout, design systems, variables, and responsive design principles.
      • Proven experience owning end-to-end product design from research through shipped features.
      • Strong portfolio demonstrating high-quality craft, systems thinking, and impact on shipped products.
      • Hands-on experience planning and conducting user research and usability testing.
      • Experience building, maintaining, or evolving scalable design systems and design standards.
      • Familiarity with AI tools in a professional design workflow and ability to leverage them for efficiency and ideation.
      • Excellent communication skills, with strong ability to present, document, and articulate design decisions.
      • Strong autonomy, ownership mindset, and ability to thrive in a remote-first, high-agency environment.
      • Bonus: experience in workflow-heavy, regulated, or scientific/technical domains such as LIMS or laboratory software.
