About the Role

The HR Advisor for Costa Rica serves as a key partner to employees, managers, and business leaders, providing both operational and advisory HR support across the region. This role works closely with Regional HR, Talent Acquisition, Global Mobility, and leadership teams to ensure alignment with business objectives while maintaining compliance with Costa Rica labor laws, Free Trade Zone (FTZ) regulations, and company policies.

The HR Advisor blends hands-on HR operations with strategic guidance, supporting the employee lifecycle and driving a positive employee experience.

Key Responsibilities

HR Advisory & Employee Support

  • Act as a trusted advisor to employees and managers on HR policies, processes, and employee relations matters.
  • Provide guidance on local labor laws, workplace practices, and company policies.
  • Support resolution of employee inquiries and workplace issues with a balanced, compliant, and employee-centric approach.

Employee Records & Compliance

  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of employee data within Workday and other HR systems.
  • Oversee proper management, storage, and tracking of employment contracts and legal documentation.
  • Maintain compliant employee records, including identification details and personal data.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to meet audit requirements and ensure adherence to local labor regulations.

Employee Documentation & Requests

  • Manage and fulfill employee and third-party documentation requests, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Prepare official documents such as Wage Garnishment Letters and Verification of Employment (VOE) letters in Spanish.
  • Serve as a point of contact for external agencies requiring employee-related information.

Recruitment & Onboarding Experience

  • Partner with Talent Acquisition to support hiring processes, including logistics and coordination.
  • Lead and enhance onboarding activities, ensuring a seamless and engaging new hire experience (orientation, office tours, workspace setup).
  • Represent the company at recruiting events, career fairs, and employer branding initiatives.

Benefits & Employee Experience

  • Provide guidance to employees on Costa Rica benefits programs and company offerings.
  • Support employees in navigating government social programs and benefits-related processes.
  • Collaborate with regional teams to improve benefit communication and employee understanding.

Costa Rica FTZ Compliance

  • Advise business units on FTZ requirements related to job functions and organizational changes.
  • Monitor and evaluate requests for new or modified job functions within Costa Rica.
  • Partner with stakeholders to support documentation, submissions, and compliance with FTZ regulations.
  • Ensure alignment between business needs and FTZ program requirements.

What You Bring

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in HR, HR Operations, or HR Generalist/Advisory roles.
  • Fluency in Spanish and proficiency in English.
  • Strong knowledge of Costa Rica labor laws, employment practices, and benefits programs.
  • Experience managing employee records and HR compliance processes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience providing HR advisory support to managers and employees.
  • Familiarity with Free Trade Zone (FTZ) compliance processes.
  • Experience with Workday or similar cloud-based HRIS platforms.
  • Exposure to onboarding programs or recruitment coordination.
