Position Summary
The Design Drafter III works closely with the Product Design Engineering team to create and/or modify 3D models and 2D drawings utilized for the manufacturing and assembly of electrical connectors and components. The Design Drafter III will also develop and modify bills of materials (BOM’s) for designs and generate engineering release and change orders in accordance with company policies and procedures. The Design Drafter III has sufficient connector expertise and technical acumen to complete a majority of the CAD designs assigned with minimal guidance and supervision.
Essential Responsibilities
- General engineering documentation, setup, and management
- Engineering BOM creation, drawing/documentation creation and updates
- Generate BOM release and engineering change order documentation.
- Create/Modify 3D models for new and existing electrical connector components and assemblies.
- Design of components under the guidance of engineers

- This position requires visibility to export documents.
Position Requirements
Required:
- Associates degree in CAD for Electro-Mechanical designs
- 5-7 years’ experience in CAD modeling and documentation of Electro-Mechanical products, preferably in connectors
- Experience in CAD design/drafting of CNC machined components (metal and plastics) and injection molding.
- CREO Parametric 3D Modeling/Documentation experience
- Other 3D system experience will be considered
- ASME Y14.5 Dimensioning and Tolerancing, including GD&T
- Ability to manage multiple tasks
- Highly self-motivated, a willingness to make a difference and learn
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with different engineering team members
- Working knowledge of MS Office products such as Excel, Word etc...
Preferred
- Knowledge in electrical connectors and the Aerospace and Defense industry.
- Knowledge in the documentation of high-performance thermoplastics, aluminum, copper alloy components and surface finishing.
- A career objective to advance towards an engineering role
