The Opportunity:

As a Windows Systems Administrator, you will support the reliability, security, and day-to-day operations of enterprise infrastructure within the Department of Veterans Affairs’ Informatics and Computing Infrastructure (VINCI) environment. You will administer, monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows-centric enterprise systems, while supporting related Linux dependencies, storage platforms, backup solutions, and reporting tools that enable mission-critical applications and data services.

In this role, you will support system administration activities across lower environments and assist with production stability as needed. You will help maintain system configurations, perform patching and lifecycle updates, monitor system health and capacity, troubleshoot operational issues, and document procedures that support continuity of operations.

You will work with application teams, infrastructure engineers, and security stakeholders to ensure systems remain available, secure, compliant, and well-maintained. This includes supporting automation, configuration management, and operational improvements that enhance stability, security, and operational efficiency across the VINCI environment. This may include assisting with infrastructure-as-code workflows, automated build and deployment activities, monitoring integrations, patching, vulnerability remediation, and system hardening aligned with federal or enterprise security standards.

Join us. The world can’t wait.

  • Knowledge of storage networking concepts, SAN architectures, and performance optimization

  • Ability to maintain and troubleshoot IIS-based application hosting, including bindings, SSL management, and application pool health

  • Ability to develop and maintain PowerShell DSC, GPO templates, and baseline configuration modules that feed into automated deployment workflows
