Arcosa Shoring Products is searching for an Environmental Health and Safety Manager. In this role, you will manage safety and risk associated with business and company operation at multiple locations in Michigan and Houston, TX. This position ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, county, and local safety related regulations. In a proactive manner, the Manager plans, directs, and implements the company's safety programs to ensure a safe, healthy, and injury/accident-free environment.

What you'll do:

  • In partnership with plant management; plan, lead and participate in plant safety meetings.
  • Conduct and oversee safety audits of all locations and determine corrective or preventative measures, assign responsibility, and follow up to ensure implementation.
  • Develop/conduct training sessions on site specific safety and health programs.
  • Perform and oversee the investigation of accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions.
  • Ensure compliance with Workers' Compensation including working with the Risk Management team, third party administrators, and legal counsel, to effectively investigate and resolve claims in an expeditious and cost-effective manner.
  • Plan and implement programs to train supervisors and employees in plant safety practices, safe equipment operating techniques, and fire prevention for the plant and office areas. 
  • Manages all EHS continuous improvement initiatives relating to OSHA, EPA, and best management practices.
  • Develop a Facility specific strategic plan to create a positive safety culture that supports the BU's safety goals and initiatives that is fully supported by Plant Management. 
  • Record and compile data, update logs, monitor equipment and schedule maintenance to ensure safety.
  • Frequently communicate with Business Leadership and Corporate Safety to keep them apprised of pertinent issues. 

Required Knowledge and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupation Health, Safety Management or related field
  • 5-8 years of manufacturing experience with 3+ years experience within Safety.
  • Knowledge of and compliance experience with:
    • Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA)
    • American National Standards Institute (ANSI)
    • National Fire Protection Association (NFPA)
    • Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
    • Workers Compensation regulations
  • Strong communication, presentation, training and facilitation, project management skills
  • Focus on proactive, leading indicators for safety performance
  • Up to 50% overnight travel required
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret safety & health data
