Procedural Schedule in Main Surgery General Unit at St Joseph Hospital Eureka. This position is Per diem and will work 8-hour Day Shifts.

Under the general supervision of the Medical Office Manager/Clinical Supervisor, this position is responsible for scheduling surgical procedures with St. Joseph Medical Center, Outpatient Surgery Center, or other local hospitals as the need arises. Key responsibilities include preparing clinical data for submission of requests for prior authorization, maintaining appropriate logs, and documentation of authorizations status.

Required Qualifications:

  • 1 year Experience with medical terminology, coding, and medical charting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Coursework/Training Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program at a vocational school or college.
  • Upon hire: Medical Assistant Certification (CMA) 
  • Upon hire: Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association 
  • Work experience in referral authorizations and Surgical Scheduling.
  • EMR experience (IDX, Touchworks/Allscripts).
