Job Summary and Responsibilities

As an Occupational Therapist, you will help patients regain independence and quality of life so they can safely perform daily activities.Every day you will assess diverse patients (orthopedic, neurological, sensory, cancer recovery, etc.), develop treatment plans, and conduct evaluations/re-evaluations. You will be expected to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, document thoroughly, and provide positive, motivating care to a high volume of patients.To be successful in this role, you must be flexible, adaptable, exceptionally organized, and a personable, motivating team player.

  • Identifies and reports patient abuse and neglect i.e.: physical assault, domestic abuse and neglect of elders and children. 
  • Accurately identifies patient's functional deficits/dysfunction through interview, skilled observation and testing to evaluate the performance areas of activities of daily living, work and productive activities and play or leisure activities, as well as the performance components of sensory motor skills, cognitive integration and psychosocial skills.
  • Accurately interprets the physician's order.
  • Accurately identifies signs and symptoms of dysphagia and the patient's functional deficits/dysfunction with swallowing through review of the medical record, observation of the patient, information obtained from the patient/family/staff, oral-pharyngeal and respiratory examination, trial feed assessments and other occupational therapy assessment techniques. Accurately interprets the physician order.  
  • Communicates regularly with other members of the healthcare team regarding goals, progress and rehab potential. Works as a collaborative member of the treatment team. Attends any necessary and appropriate patient care meetings such as mini rounds, rehab weekly conference, weekly NICU discharge meetings, etc. 
  • Attends at least one hospital or departmental inservice a month. (NA - per diem)

  • Occupational Therapist: CA, upon hire
  • Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire
