Probe Card Technician Day Shift
onsemi, based in East Fishkill, New York, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Probe Card Technician. The Probe Card Technician is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, repair, cleaning, and qualification of probe cards used in semiconductor wafer testing. This role ensures probe cards meet performance and quality standards to maximize test yield, minimize downtime, and support production schedules. The technician works closely with engineering, manufacturing, and equipment maintenance teams to troubleshoot probe card issues and implement continuous improvements.
Essential Responsibilities
- Inspect probe cards for wear, contamination, bent or damaged needles, and other defects.
- Clean probe cards using approved methods and equipment to maintain optimal electrical performance.
- Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and component replacement on probe cards.
- Verify probe card performance through electrical qualification and functional testing.
- Troubleshoot probe card-related test failures and determine root causes.
- Support production by prioritizing probe card availability and minimizing equipment downtime.
- Document maintenance activities, repairs, inspections, and qualification results in tracking systems.
- Maintain inventory of probe cards, replacement components, cleaning supplies, and repair materials.
- Coordinate with Test Engineering to introduce new probe cards and support engineering evaluations.
- Assist with probe card setup, alignment verification, and troubleshooting during product changeovers.
- Identify recurring failure trends and recommend corrective actions or process improvements.
- Follow ESD, cleanroom, safety, and quality procedures at all times.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to improve probe card life, test yield, and operational efficiency.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in Electronics Technology, Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience preferred.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Experience working in semiconductor manufacturing, electronics, or precision mechanical assembly preferred.
- Basic understanding of electrical measurements and electronic troubleshooting.
- Ability to use microscopes, precision hand tools, and measuring equipment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with ESD handling procedures and cleanroom protocols.
- Basic computer skills for documentation and data entry.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with vertical, epoxy ring, MEMS, or cantilever probe cards.
- Knowledge of wafer probing, semiconductor parametric testing, or production test operations.
- Familiarity with probe card qualification equipment and analysis tools.
- Experience reading engineering drawings and technical documentation.
