As a Solution Architect, Infrastructure & Cloud at Air Canada, you will help define, design, and evolve technology solutions that support business needs, agility, and strategic growth. Working collaboratively with business and IT stakeholders, you will translate business strategies and requirements into practical technical solutions, applications, and process designs. You will contribute to solution architecture and provide architectural guidance across the product lifecycle, from inception and design through implementation, including development, infrastructure, data, and security considerations.
This position will be reporting to the Director, Technology Architecture.
Responsibilities:
- Understand business drivers and business capabilities, both current and future, and recommend enterprise system designs and change requirements that support targeted business outcomes.
- Understand emerging technology trends and disruptions to enable new business and operating models.
- Translate business and technical requirements into architectural blueprints to achieve business objectives and document all solution architecture design and analysis work.
- Contribute to solution design and planning to ensure platforms are optimized for performance, scalability and cost.
- Present and socialize proposed solutions through solution review sessions and communicate designs clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Support the solution delivery by providing insights to project managers that plan and execute delivery activities.
- Provide technical guidance to internal and external teams involved in implementation activities, while supporting alignment with architecture standards and guidelines.
- Support the quality of the defined solution and its alignment with technology strategies, standards, and best practices defined by the Enterprise Architecture team.
- Provide architectural guidance to delivery teams and serve as a key architecture resource.
- Create solution architecture artifacts that describe the solution, key decisions, and associated benefits.
- Build effective technical relationships across multidisciplinary teams.
Qualifications
- A relevant university degree, technical certification, and/or experience commensurate to the role.
- Significant experience (usually 7+years) in IT, including solution architecture, application architecture, development, infrastructure, or related technology domains.
- Experience designing solutions in cloud or hybrid technology environments.
- Experience with corporate, airline, or commercial systems is considered an asset.
- Experience with architecture modeling tools and frameworks such as ArchiMate, TOGAF, or BIZBOK is considered an asset.
- Cloud platform certification is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of emerging technologies such as AI/ML, LLMs, or agentic systems is considered an asset.
- Understanding of IT standards and controls.
- Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, with a systematic approach.
- Professional, service-oriented, and collaborative approach with the ability to build effective business relationships.
- Ability to work effectively in rapidly changing environments and manage priorities with support and collaboration.
- Demonstrate punctuality and dependability to support overall team success in a fast-paced environment.
- Bilingualism in English and French is considered an asset.
- Flexibility to adapt to business needs, including occasional extended hours when required.
