KBR is seeking a collaborative, business-minded Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) with broad HR experience and an interest in strengthening their business partnership and consulting skills. This role is well suited for an HR professional who can balance daily HR operations with opportunities to advise leaders, address organizational challenges, and support business success.

The HR Business Partner serves as a trusted resource for employees and managers, offering guidance across HR disciplines while supporting the day-to-day execution of HR processes and programs. Under general direction, the selected candidate applies specialized knowledge and judgment to resolve complex or unique issues, support team activities, establish priorities, interpret internal and external factors, and help develop best practices. They will demonstrate curiosity, sound judgment, and a commitment to growing their strategic partnership capabilities over time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • HR Operations and Service Delivery
    • Manage routine HR processes and transactions with accuracy, responsiveness, and attention to detail using tools including Workday.
    • Support employee lifecycle activities including policy administration, onboarding, compensation and classification reviews, and other operational HR responsibilities.
    • Ensure HR programs and processes are implemented consistently and effectively.
    • Respond to employee and manager inquiries while maintaining a high level of customer service.
    • Identify opportunities to improve processes, increase efficiency, and enhance the employee experience.
  • Leadership and Employee Coaching
    • Provide day-to-day coaching and support to managers on performance management, employee development, classification and compensation, communication, and team effectiveness.
    • Help leaders build high-performing teams aligned with the company's vision, mission, values, and strategic priorities.   
    • Encourage employee growth and career development by connecting individuals with appropriate development opportunities and resources.
    • Support change management and organizational initiatives through effective communication and leadership support.
  • Employee Relations and Investigations
    • Manage employee relations matters, including performance concerns, workplace conflict, policy interpretation, and corrective action processes.
    • Conduct workplace investigations and support the resolution of complex employee relations issues with guidance from HR leadership as needed.
    • Coach managers and employees through challenging situations while balancing business needs, employee experience, and organizational risk.
    • Promote a fair, consistent, and positive employee experience.
  • Business Partnership and Consultation
    • Partner with managers and employees to understand business needs, workforce challenges, and opportunities for organizational improvement.
    • Provide practical HR guidance and recommendations that support both employee success and business objectives.
    • Develop consultative skills by working with leaders to address people-related challenges and implement effective solutions.
    • Build credibility and trusted relationships with leaders and employees across the organization.
    • Identify opportunities to strengthen team effectiveness, employee engagement, and organizational performance.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Relevant experience is acceptable in lieu of degree.
  • 5–8 years of progressive Human Resources experience with exposure to multiple HR disciplines.
  • Experience supporting managers and employees in a generalist, HRBP, or employee relations-focused role.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in IT skills encompassing fluency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
  • Possess critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze situations, weigh available options, and identify the best course of action.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and provide HR guidance in a business environment.
  • Experience handling employee relations matters and participating in workplace investigations.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage administrative and operational HR responsibilities while maintaining a broader business perspective.
  • Demonstrated interest and aptitude in developing consultative and business partnership capabilities.
  • Ability to adjust schedule to support employees across all time zones, with a sense of urgency and a commitment to providing excellent customer service.
  • Able and willing to work a hybrid schedule in an office environment at least three days per week.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a large engineering or professional services business.
  • DoD (Department of Defense) experience.
  • Experience working with large-scale HR Information Systems such as Workday.
  • Experience with / knowledge of Davis Bacon or Service Contract Act populations.
  • Compensation and classification working knowledge, including FLSA and other state and federal wage and hour laws.
  • Possess emerging digital fluency with a strong interest in using AI-powered tools, automation platforms, and HR technologies to improve workflows, increase productivity, and support organizational objectives.
  • SHRM-CP or HRCI PHR/SPHR certification in Human Resources Management

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 hours/week.

Basic Compensation: $93,000.00 - 140,000.00.

The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.

Additional Compensation:

KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of sign on bonus, relocation benefits, short term incentives, long term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
