This position is part of Synpulse’s Centre of Excellence (CoE) and sits within newly established Reinsurance Operations Team, supporting a UK-based specialist (Re) Insurance client. The role works closely with the CoE Reinsurance Operations Manager and offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative, international environment.
The successful candidate will contribute to gross-to-net close processes, support regulatory reporting and management information activities, and build hands-on experience across key areas of reinsurance accounting and operations.

Key Responsibilities
Month-end close core responsibilities
- Manage the month end process, ensuring accurate and timely gross and net close data
- Assist in the month end close process for our US business
- Analyse output from month end process and reinsurance related regulatory returns, and highlight material issues to the Reinsurance Reporting Manager
- Communicating with stakeholders and managing expectations effectively
- To assist with relevant client regulatory returns and Solvency II, Lloyd Insurance Market and the client’s group returns, ensuring accuracy and timely submission
- Assist with US business regulatory return Reinsurance requirements
- Assist the Ceded Reinsurance and underwriting teams in their business analysis
- Assist in the build of the reinsurance spend model and production of reporting
- Stakeholder Management
- Key point of contact for finance & actuarial teams
- Communicating with client stakeholders and managing expectations effectively
- Undertake frequent reconciliation exercises as part of the quarter close process
- Work alongside the client Reinsurance Reporting Manager to support the half year and full year external audit process
- Assist the Ceded Reinsurance and underwriting teams in implementing appropriate processes and controls to manage their business
- Develop new reports as requested by stakeholders
- Develop, document and operate controls to ensure data is as accurate as possible
- Develop new procedures and processes in line with the evolving business requirements
- Undertake any other reasonable duties as may be requested by the client Reinsurance Reporting Manager in the provision of the service
- Comply with relevant Client and Synpulse procedures and policies
- Structured onboarding and training in reinsurance operations and accounting processes
- Ongoing mentoring and coaching from senior team members, learning from experienced reinsurance professionals in a supportive environment

Personality requirements and skills
- 3-6 years of experience in insurance/reinsurance or a similar finance role including of experience in completing reinsurance regulatory returns (ideally within a multi-entity environment)
- Several years’ technical reinsurance reporting experience, (ideally within a multi-entity syndicate)
- Extensive experience, knowledge and understanding of the reinsurance industry
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics or related field (or qualified by experience)
- Strong English language skills (C1 or above)
- Very reliable, with close attention to detail and ability to manage time effectively and prioritize
- Curious and open to learn about reinsurance and financial processes
- Well organized detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Comfortable working with data and developing analytical thinking and technical skills, adapting to current technologies
- Good communicator, able to collaborate with different stakeholders and build relationship with clients, partners, internal teams
- Proactive mindset and willingness to take initiative with support
- Demonstrable analytical skills(preferably in an insurance environment)
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Outcome focused, self-motivated, flexible and enthusiastic
- Professional approach to successfully interact with managers/colleagues/external suppliers
- Adaptability (e.g. ability to embrace and work with new systems if needed)
- Several years’ experience of completing reinsurance regulatory returns and reinsurance reporting (preferably within a multi-entity syndicate)
- Experience of dealing with external auditors
- Solid experience, knowledge and understanding of the reinsurance industry
- Evidence of Analytical skills, preferably in an insurance environment
- Evidence of data literacy skills, including advanced Excel and ability to deal with large data volumes
- Knowledge of Power BI
- Access database / SQL
- Professional finance certification (e.g. ACMA, ACCA)
- Knowledge of Ceded Reinsurance processes
- Exposure to the London Insurance Market
