As a Field Engineer, you will own the deployment, commissioning, uptime, and operational performance of mimic's robot stations at customer sites. You will be responsible for installing, programming, integrating, and servicing complete robotic systems, including industrial robot arms, actuators, low-voltage electrical systems, control cabinets, and PLC-based automation. Working across hardware, electrical, and software domains, you will diagnose and resolve issues in real-world production environments, ensuring reliable system operation while acting as the primary technical contact during customer deployments.You will collaborate closely with the Engineering, AI, and Product teams to improve system reliability, streamline deployments, and help shape the next generation of industrial robotics platforms.
Responsibilities
- Deploy, commission, and validate robotic stations at customer sites.
- Design, assemble, wire, and service low-voltage electrical systems, control cabinets, and robotics hardware.
- Integrate, program, and troubleshoot industrial actuators, sensors, PLCs, and automation systems.
- Diagnose and resolve electrical, mechanical, and software issues across robotic systems, Linux environments, and mimic's software stack.
- Perform hardware integration, system testing, and commissioning to ensure reliable operation.
- Work closely with the AI team to reproduce, analyze, and resolve field failures.
- Serve as the primary technical contact on-site, providing professional customer support during deployments and service activities.
- Capture field learnings and drive continuous improvements to product reliability, deployment processes, and serviceability.
What you bring
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Automation Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience deploying, integrating, or commissioning industrial robotic systems.
- Hands-on experience designing, assembling, wiring, and troubleshooting low-voltage electrical systems and industrial control hardware.
- Experience programming, configuring, and debugging PLCs and industrial automation systems.
- Experience integrating industrial actuators, sensors, drives, and field devices.
- Comfortable working with electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control documentation.
- Comfortable working with hand tools, mechanical assemblies, cabling, and hardware integration.
- Comfortable working and debugging in Linux environments.
- Strong troubleshooting skills spanning software, hardware, electrical, and electromechanical systems.
- Excellent communication skills in English (German is a strong plus).
- Willingness to travel frequently for customer deployments and customer support.
- Valid Category B driving license.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with ROS2
- Experience with industrial communication protocols such as EtherCAT, PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, CANopen, or Modbus.
- Experience with industrial safety systems, functional safety, or machine commissioning.
- Experience designing electrical panels or machine control systems.
- Familiarity with CAD tools for electrical schematics (e.g. EPLAN) or mechanical integration.
- Experience working in industrial automation, special machinery, or robotic integration.
