Why Patlytics

Patlytics is the premier and market leading end-to-end platform for the entire patent lifecycle. The platform integrates AI-powered solutions that accelerate infringement and invalidity analysis, patent application drafting, office action analysis, and portfolio management/IP strategy.

Backed by SignalFire, N47, Google’s Gradient Ventures, Patlytics is the most capitalized AI-native IP platform with total funding of approximately $65 million, raised in under two and a half years. Patlytics is trusted by the world’s most innovative companies, over 40% of Am Law 100 firms, and multiple top Legal 500/Chambers-ranked IP practices, including Quinn Emanuel, McDermott Will & Schulte, Foley & Lardner, Canon, Rivian, Xerox, Asahi Kasei, and TaylorMade. The matters these firms bring to Patlytics are among their most critical: strategic patent prosecution, active litigation, and high-stakes licensing negotiations. Faced with record claim volumes and growing case complexity, practitioners trust Patlytics to scale their output without compromising the precision their clients, the courts, and their firms demand.

With teams across the globe we're building a global company fueled by exceptional talent and bold ideas. Our rapid expansion is driven by people who bring entrepreneurial energy, intellectual curiosity, and a shared commitment to setting the global standard for AI-powered IP intelligence. This is a rare chance to help define a new category in real time – the work is ambitious, the bar is high, and the opportunity for growth is unmatched.

Role Overview

Patlytics’ Legal Engineers are experienced IP attorneys (e.g., patent prosecutors and IP litigators) who sit on the Strategy team—at the center of the company—supporting GTM (pre-sale, POCs, pilots, closing, post-sale), product (roadmap, development, release testing, QC/QA), partnerships, and marketing. Legal Engineers translate Patlytics’ AI capabilities into the language of patent practice so customers and internal teams clearly understand how the platform improves day-to-day workflows and decision-making.

In this role, Legal Engineers build consultative, trust-based relationships with law firm partners and associates and with in-house patent teams across technology, pharma/biotech, and other enterprise organizations. They secure the “legal win” through rigorous discovery and sharp workflow alignment—asking thoughtful questions, diagnosing what matters in a given practice area, and delivering targeted education via meetings, demos, trainings, and 1:1 sessions that resonate with how patent professionals actually work.

Legal Engineers collaborate broadly across Patlytics—working not only with Sales, but also closely with Product and Engineering (to troubleshoot use cases and guide roadmap priorities), Marketing (to refine messaging and collateral), and Partnerships (to support integration and ecosystem narratives). Success requires extreme ownership of the product, clear dialogue internally and with customers, and strong collaboration everywhere, especially during pilots where cross-functional execution and fast iteration are critical.

This role is located in New York, NY.

What You'll Do

  • Sit at the center of the company and support GTM (pre-sale, POCs, pilots, closing, post-sale), product (roadmap, development, release testing, QC/QA), partnerships, and marketing—working closely with teams and stakeholders across the company’s ecosystem.

  • Work hand-in-hand with Product and Engineering to guide product direction—troubleshoot real use cases, improve usability for legal teams, and contribute directly to roadmap prioritization, release testing, and QC/QA.

  • Act as the “Voice of the Customer” through a patent-law lens: synthesize feedback, identify patterns, and help teams make better GTM and product decisions.

  • Engage with patent professionals at current and prospective customers to understand workflow challenges, then clearly communicate and demonstrate how Patlytics solves those problems across the customer journey (from first call through adoption).

  • Build credibility as a subject-matter expert who can translate real patent practice needs into practical solutions—spanning prosecution and portfolio work as well as diligence and disputes-adjacent analysis (e.g., validity/invalidity, infringement/non-infringement, and related patent-intelligence workflows).

  • Lead consultative product demos tailored to specific audiences (law firm practice groups and in-house teams): ask strong discovery questions to validate value, then showcase the most relevant workflows, features, and outcomes.

  • Drive and support pilots end-to-end, collaborating tightly across functions and maintaining clear dialogue internally and with customers—especially when requirements evolve quickly and execution quality matters most.

  • Partner with Marketing to develop and refine collateral that resonates with patent professionals (e.g., messaging, decks, case studies, whitepapers), ensuring technical accuracy, clarity, and differentiation.

What You’ll Have

  • JD or equivalent legal qualification (and ability to operate credibly with senior attorneys and in-house counsel).

  • 5+ years of IP attorney experience at a top-tier law firm and/or sophisticated in-house team (e.g., patent prosecution and/or IP litigation); USPTO registration preferred.

  • Deep fluency in patent practice and workflows, with the ability to map customer problems to concrete solutions (prosecution, portfolio management, due diligence, validity/invalidity, infringement/non-infringement, and related patent-intelligence work).

  • Executive presence and customer engagement skills—able to build trust quickly, establish credibility at all levels, and develop strong relationships with key decision makers.

  • Excellent facilitation and presentation ability, including leading discovery, whiteboarding, and delivering compelling demos/trainings to both legal and executive audiences.

  • Extreme ownership and product mindset: comfort operating “in the middle of the company,” taking responsibility for outcomes, and proactively driving clarity rather than waiting for direction.

  • Clear dialogue and strong collaboration across functions—able to work effectively with Sales, Product, Engineering, Marketing, Partnerships, and Customer Success, especially during fast-moving POCs and pilots.

  • Curiosity and judgment about AI in legal workflows, including interest in how AI is changing patent practice and how to communicate value responsibly and precisely.

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication—able to synthesize complex legal/product concepts into crisp, customer-ready messaging and internal feedback.

  • Customer-facing / commercial experience is a plus, including law firm BD, secondments, training/enablement, or direct responsibility for client matters and client relationships.
