Job Description

Position Summary:

As the Business Manager, you will lead a team of Product Managers responsible for shaping the strategy, growth, and performance of the Motor Control & Protection portfolio. This position reports directly to the Business Director for Power Components. It will carry overall accountability for portfolio strategy, product planning, commercialization, profitability, forecasting, pricing, and lifecycle management for the Motor Control and Protection segment. Additionally, it will ensure the business delivers sustainable growth and customer value.

In this position, you will drive business results by translating customer and market insights into product and commercial strategies, guiding investments in innovation, and leading the development and launch of solutions that help customers operate more efficiently and effectively. Success requires collaboration across Sales, Marketing, Engineering, Operations, and other Rockwell Automation businesses to align priorities, implement growth programs, and strengthen market position.

You will also grow a Product Management organization through coaching, mentoring, and employee development. By encouraging engagement, strengthening organizational capability, and creating opportunities for growth, you will help ensure both the long-term success of the business and the development of future leaders.

As a member of the leadership team, you will achieve our goals through leadership of people, portfolio investments, strategic partnerships, and important business priorities. The Business Manager serves as a key leader in connecting customer needs, technology, and market opportunities to deliver competitive advantage and long-term success.

Your Responsibilities:

The Business Manager leads a team responsible for the following important activities:

  • Develop product and portfolio strategies that increase revenue, profitability, and customer success.
  • Create short- and long-range business plans aligned with market trends, customer needs, and strategic goals, including leadership of the annual Portfolio Review process.
  • Partner with Sales and Marketing organizations to develop commercial strategies, strengthen market presence, and accelerate growth within the Motor Control & Protection portfolio.
  • Build strategic relationships with suppliers, channel partners, industry organizations, and other important partners that support our goals.
  • Define product line architecture, functional requirements, performance goals, and pricing strategies to maintain competitiveness and achieve financial targets.
  • Lead product launch, promotion, and commercialization activities, including sales enablement, training, trade show participation, literature development, and distribution planning.
  • Conduct market and competitive analysis to identify growth opportunities, guide strategic decisions, and strengthen market positioning.
  • Lead product lifecycle management activities, including enhancements, rationalization, change approvals, and obsolescence planning.
  • Support product development execution through project oversight, issue resolution, prioritization, and cross-functional coordination.
  • Maintain awareness of industry, technology, and customer trends and represent Rockwell Automation through participation in technical events and industry forums.
  • Provide leadership to ensure achievement of business, portfolio, and financial goals.

Interpersonal:

  • Lead, coach, and develop Product Management employees to enhance performance, strengthen organizational capability, and support career growth.
  • Build alignment among Engineering, Operations, Sales, Marketing, and other team members to achieve product, portfolio, and business objectives.
  • Collaborate with strategic partners, standards organizations, and external stakeholders to improve business and technology strategies.
  • Support customer engagements through collaboration with Sales and other Rockwell Automation businesses on projects, quotations, presentations, and growth programs.
  • Communicate market trends, customer requirements, competitive insights, and strategic priorities to project teams, business leaders, and other team members.
  • Provide long-range strategic direction and market perspective for financially or strategically important product lines.

The Essentials - You Will Have:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent years of relevant work experience.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
  • Ability to travel, including internationally, up to 10% of time.

The Preferred - You Might Also Have:

  • Typically requires 8+ years of combined experience in Product Management, Product Marketing, or Technical Sales supporting industrial customers.
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience leading and aligning cross-functional and cross-organizational teams.
  • Experience developing and executing commercial strategies that drive market growth and business performance.
  • Experience translating customer insights into product strategies, product development priorities, and compelling value propositions.
  • Experience in Product Management, Product Marketing, or Technical Sales within the industrial automation industry.
  • Knowledge of industrial automation systems, motor control technologies, and industrial control platforms preferred.
