About the Role

As a Senior Logistics Analyst – Transportation Analytics & Optimization (TAO), you will drive network optimization and continuous improvement across Target’s domestic collect network. This role ensures the network achieves expected outcomes through ongoing measurement, exception management, and vendor engagement. You will lead initiatives that strengthen vendor behavior, optimize freight flow, and develop sustainable processes that reduce cost and improve operational performance.

You will partner closely with Transportation Operations, Sourcing, Inventory Management, Supplier Performance, and Vendor partners to identify risks, solve exceptions, and maintain a healthy, efficient network.

Key Responsibilities

Integrated Supply Chain Optimization

  • Serve as the TAO representative for the Integrated Purchasing & Transportation (IP&T) cross-functional team, ensuring transportation considerations are incorporated into purchasing decisions and product roadmaps
  • Partner closely with Inventory Management, PIM, SCNO, Sourcing, and Transportation teams to develop and execute integrated optimization strategies across the supply chain
  • Evaluate and optimize multiple supply chain levers simultaneously at the vendor level, including VOP Optimization, Reorder Frequency, Ordering Thresholds, Truckload Optimization, Regional Buy strategies, and Multi-Vendor VRG opportunities
  • Facilitate cross-functional discussions to balance transportation cost, inventory investment, service, and operational efficiency while driving holistic decision-making

Optimization Analytics & Business Insights

  • Develop analytical frameworks and decision-support tools that identify optimization opportunities across Target's transportation network
  • Perform quantitative analysis to evaluate business impacts, model optimization scenarios, and recommend scalable solutions that improve transportation efficiency and reduce total supply chain cost
  • Translate complex data into actionable insights and communicate recommendations to business partners and leadership
  • Monitor key performance indicators to measure initiative success and identify new opportunities for continuous improvement

Cross-Functional Partnership & Strategic Execution

  • Lead transportation workstreams supporting strategic supply chain initiatives by aligning priorities across Transportation, Inventory Management, Sourcing, Merchandising, and SCNO teams
  • Represent TAO in cross-functional forums, ensuring transportation impacts are understood and incorporated into upstream planning and execution
  • Influence business partners through data-driven recommendations and facilitate alignment on optimization opportunities across the end-to-end supply chain
  • Support implementation of new optimization strategies by partnering with operational teams to ensure successful execution and sustainable results

Continuous Improvement & Innovation

  • Identify emerging opportunities to improve transportation performance through process enhancements, analytical innovation, and optimization initiatives
  • Develop repeatable reporting and analytical capabilities that enable proactive decision-making across the Optimization pillar
  • Document best practices, analytical methodologies, and lessons learned to scale successful strategies across the network
  • Stay informed on evolving supply chain capabilities and leverage new tools, data, and technologies to drive continuous improvement

Day-to-Day TAO Operations

  • Manage daily vendor problem-solving, supporting smooth flow through VIT modeling and exception handling.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required; Supply Chain-related degree preferred.
  • 2+ years of supply chain or relevant experience (Transportation, Inventory Management, Sourcing, or Merchandising experience a plus).
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills; ability to translate ambiguous data into actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Growth mindset and innovative approach; ability to challenge the status quo and operationalize new ideas.
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Proficiency in PC Windows-based applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Target’s needs. A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member’s core role will need to be performed both onsite at the Target HQ MN location the role is assigned to and virtually, depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day.
