Role Overview
We are seeking a talented Junior Designer to join our Office Fitout team. In this role, you will support the design and delivery of workplace projects from concept through to completion, working alongside experienced designers, project managers, and clients to create functional, inspiring office environments. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career designer to develop technical skills and gain exposure to diverse commercial real estate projects.
Key Responsibilities
Design Development
- Assist in preparing design concepts, space plans, and presentation materials for client approval
- Develop furniture layouts, finish schedules, and material palettes under senior designer guidance
- Produce design documentation including floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, elevations, and detail drawings
- Support FF&E (furniture, fixtures & equipment) selection and specification
- Contribute to design workshops and client presentations
Technical Documentation
- Prepare working drawings and technical specifications for tender and construction phases
- Coordinate design documentation with MEP, structural, and other consultant drawings
- Ensure compliance with building codes, accessibility standards, and workplace regulations
- Maintain drawing libraries, specification templates, and project files
Project Coordination
- Collaborate with project managers, consultants, and contractors throughout project delivery
- Attend site meetings and conduct site inspections to verify design intent implementation
- Review contractor shop drawings and respond to RFIs (Requests for Information)
- Track design changes and maintain accurate project records
- Support procurement processes including material sampling and vendor coordination
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
- Participate in client meetings and design presentations
- Incorporate client feedback into design revisions
- Build strong working relationships with internal teams and external consultants
- Communicate design intent clearly through drawings, models, and visual presentations
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or related field
- 1-2 years of professional experience in office fitout, commercial interiors, or workplace design
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite
- Working knowledge of SketchUp, Revit, or similar 3D modeling software
- Understanding of building codes, ADA compliance, and fitout construction processes
- Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Portfolio demonstrating commercial interior design work
Desirable
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator)
- Familiarity with rendering software (Enscape, V-Ray, Lumion)
- Exposure to sustainable design principles and WELL/LEED certification processes
- Knowledge of furniture systems and workplace ergonomics
- Experience working in a consulting or client-facing environment
