Role: Principal Data Engineer
Role Summary
State Street Investment Management is seeking a Principal Data Engineer with expertise in Data Architecture, Databricks, AWS, Python, and Spark to lead the design and delivery of scalable cloud data platforms. This role combines hands-on engineering with architectural leadership, driving enterprise data solutions that support analytics, reporting, and investment management functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and govern cloud data architecture and engineering standards.
- Design and develop scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using Python, Spark, and Databricks.
- Lead data modeling, data warehousing, and Lakehouse architecture initiatives.
- Ensure data quality, performance, security, and platform reliability.
- Drive cloud modernization, automation, and CI/CD best practices.
- Mentor engineering teams and provide technical leadership across projects.
Required Experience
- 8–11 years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Architecture, or related roles.
- Proven experience designing and implementing cloud-based data platforms.
- Strong expertise in AWS, Databricks, Python, Spark, SQL, and data modeling.
- Experience leading solution design, architecture discussions, and technical delivery.
- Financial Services or Asset Management experience preferred.
