Back Controls Subject Matter Expert (SME)UK, United Kingdom · Permanent · HybridOverviewApplicationAbout this job Apply Share job Job description A growing part of the Company’s growth strategy involves new products built over the past 12 months (Control Optimisation Engine, Trading Venue Governance), mainly directed at global investment banks.   We're hiring a Senior eTrading / Trading Venue SME to play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering our new product offering, as next generation of NFRM.  This is a senior, highly visible role reporting into the Chief Product Officer, combining deep client engagement, commercial strategy, delivery and new product incubation.  Job requirements 15–20 years' experience in Financial Services in etrading and Trading Venue domains- ideally within GSIBs/in both 1LoD and 2LoD.Deep knowledge of electronic trading controls across at least two asset classes (equities, fixed income, FX, or listed derivatives).Hands-on experience with trading technology stacks: OMS/EMS, DMA/SMA, algo execution, FIX protocol, and venue connectivity.Familiarity with how major trading venues operate: exchanges, MTFs, dark pools, ECNs, SEFs-order types, matching logic, market data, and participant rules.Prior involvement in controls, compliance, or risk programmes at a Tier 1 or Tier 2 bank (internal or as an external advisor/consultant).Strong client-facing skills: credible, structured, and effective with senior stakeholders in demanding institutional environments.Ability to translate deep domain knowledge into written product feedback, control frameworks, and delivery documentation.Confident operating autonomously in a growth-focused organisation, adaptable, able to drive workload by goal vs individual tasks, balancing strategic priorities with hands-on delivery. Job responsibilities Controls Completeness and Trading Venue Solutions Implementation (JP Morgan) Drive the solution implementation from a technical standpoint, working with the designated Project Manager, Implementation Consultant and Product Lead.Acting as the primary SME for the client (incl. QA value drops pre implementation at client, reviewing / challenging delivery to ensure value realisation, answering questions from client, translating feedback / sharing with Product team).Provide demonstration of the solutions – and value drops pre implementation, where applicable.Ensure the implementation reflects client business objectives by the end of November: Identify control requirements related to eTrading policies (client) and 15 set regulations. Compare versus client control inventory, to identify gaps incl. traceability to source requirements.Manage the above gaps, using workflow assessment, and a UI to access data.Assess and maintain controls completeness for eTrading based on changes to the above requirements (policies, regulations).Drive the engagement to completion – on scope, on time, and with a high-quality outcome that the client can stand behind with their regulators.Client-Facing SME Serve as the go-to expert for all client questions relating to eTrading controls, and trading venue operations Build and maintain strong working relationships with senior stakeholders at the bank across Market controls, technology, compliance, and risk Articulate complex technical and product-related functionalities clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences Represent our firm with credibility and authority in a demanding Tier 1 bank environment Product Feedback & Roadmap Input Capture structured feedback from the client engagement and translate it into clear, actionable product requirements for the Product team Identify gaps, edge cases, and enhancement opportunities in Controls and Trading Venue products Participate in product roadmap discussions, providing a practitioner’s perspective grounded in client reality Value Delivery Support Work alongside Value Delivery teams to...
