Accountabilities:

    The Product Counsel will serve as a trusted legal advisor embedded with product teams, helping translate business objectives into compliant, scalable solutions. This role will focus on identifying risks early, providing practical guidance, and improving legal processes through technology and collaboration.

    • Partner with product, engineering, design, business development, and operations teams to provide strategic legal guidance throughout the product lifecycle.
    • Identify and assess legal risks related to product launches, platform development, consumer protection, privacy, payments, advertising, and commercial activities.
    • Develop scalable compliance frameworks and processes that support expansion into new markets and product areas.
    • Provide clear, concise, and actionable legal advice while balancing business goals and regulatory requirements.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to find creative solutions that enable product innovation while managing legal exposure.
    • Support legal reviews of technology platforms, e-commerce initiatives, and customer-facing products.
    • Build efficient legal workflows by leveraging AI-assisted tools and improving processes for recurring legal questions.
    • Create documentation, risk frameworks, and escalation paths to improve legal visibility and decision-making.
    • Stay informed on evolving regulations affecting digital platforms, technology products, privacy, and online commerce.
    • Act as a strategic partner who helps teams move ambitious projects forward with confidence.
    • Requirements:

      The ideal candidate is an experienced technology-focused legal professional with strong commercial judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-moving product environment.

      • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school with active bar membership in at least one U.S. state.
      • 5+ years of legal experience gained at a leading law firm or within an in-house legal department.
      • Experience advising on legal matters related to internet, e-commerce, technology platforms, SaaS, privacy, payments, advertising, or digital products.
      • Strong ability to analyze complex legal issues and provide practical recommendations aligned with business objectives.
      • Demonstrated experience managing multiple priorities and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain legal concepts clearly to technical and non-legal stakeholders.
      • Comfortable using AI tools to improve efficiency, streamline workflows, and enhance legal operations.
      • Experience working independently in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
      • Preferred experience includes working in-house at a technology company, retailer, or platform business.
      • Additional knowledge of antitrust, consumer protection, GDPR, privacy, or data security regulations is a plus.
