Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Physical Therapy Assistant, you will be a vital clinical support, meticulously implementing patient treatment programs and providing critical feedback toward recovery.Every day, you'll execute individual patient treatment programs developed by the therapist, guiding patients through exercises and activities. You'll provide objective feedback on patient and caregiver performance, collaborate with the supervising therapist, and contribute directly to therapy goals.To be successful, you'll combine strong clinical skill implementation with excellent observation, communication, and a compassionate approach, directly contributing to effective rehabilitation outcomes and an enhanced patient experience.
- Implements effective treatment, assesses its effectiveness, modifies goals, selects appropriate interventions, utilizes specialized techniques, addresses patient safety, recommends/obtains equipment, and provides treatment for multiple diagnoses.
- Addresses patient/family education, demonstrates a variety of teaching methods, ensures methods are appropriate and timely, content is comprehensive, performance is documented, and need for follow-up is indicated.
- Complies with department policy regarding documentation, completes it in a timely manner, ensures it is concise and legible, reflects all interventions and patient response, addresses IOP indicators, reflects teamwork, and completes all logs per department policy.
- Appropriately communicates treatment plan and patient status, participates in team conferences, addresses verification of payor guidelines, attempts to contact MD with concerns, solicits feedback, and collaborates with primary PT/OT regarding patient progress.
- Provides appropriate clinical feedback to students in collaboration and under the general direction of a physical therapist or occupational therapist.
- Complies with department policy for productivity, demonstrates appropriate time management, initiates and completes projects within established time frames, and initiates adjustments in schedules to meet the standard.
Job Requirements
Required
- Graduation from an approved PhysicalTherapy Assistant program
- Successfully passing the equivalency examination and California licensure/eligibility as a physical therapy assistant.
- Physical Therapy Assistant: CA
- Basic Life Support - CPR through American Heart Association
Preferred
- Experience as a physical therapy assistant
