Accountabilities:

    The Staff Data Platform Engineer will be responsible for leading the design, development, and evolution of large-scale data systems while driving technical excellence across engineering teams. This role combines backend engineering, data architecture, and cloud expertise to deliver reliable, scalable, and high-performing platforms.

    • Architect and develop complex distributed systems designed for scalability, reliability, fault tolerance, and long-term maintainability.
    • Build and maintain scalable microservices supporting both real-time and batch data processing workflows.
    • Design and optimize high-performance REST APIs with strong focus on reliability, observability, and operational excellence.
    • Develop efficient data models, storage strategies, and queries across SQL and NoSQL database environments.
    • Lead data quality initiatives to improve accuracy, consistency, and trust across platform data assets.
    • Collaborate with product, engineering, and cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions.
    • Establish engineering standards around code quality, testing practices, deployment processes, and system monitoring.
    • Mentor engineers through technical guidance, design reviews, code reviews, and knowledge sharing.
    • Own the full software development lifecycle, including implementation, deployment, monitoring, troubleshooting, and incident response.
    • Leverage modern AI-powered tools and frameworks to improve engineering productivity and optimize technical workflows.
    • Requirements:

      The ideal candidate brings extensive experience building backend and data platforms, with strong technical leadership skills and the ability to operate effectively in complex, evolving environments.

      • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
      • 10+ years of professional experience focused on backend engineering, data engineering, and large-scale software systems.
      • Proven experience designing and operating distributed systems using microservices architectures, including scalability, performance, fault tolerance, and observability best practices.
      • Strong experience building reliable backend services using modern programming languages such as TypeScript and Node.js.
      • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and cloud-based deployment practices.
      • Experience working with public cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP.
      • Familiarity with AWS serverless technologies and infrastructure-as-code tools such as SST, CDK, or Terraform.
      • Experience with NoSQL databases such as DynamoDB and event-driven architectures including streaming technologies like Kinesis or DynamoDB Streams.
      • Strong understanding of data modeling, database optimization, and scalable data processing patterns.
      • Demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives, mentor engineers, and influence engineering practices.
      • Excellent communication, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
      • Ability to manage ambiguity, adapt to changing priorities, and independently drive complex projects to completion.
