About the Role
- Serve as a Senior Tax Research Analyst operating in the role of Tax Product Partner (TPP) within agile product squads
- Interpret and apply complex federal and state tax law to support the accurate development and implementation of tax software
- Own and contribute to deliverables aligned to Regulatory RACI, including defining requirements, acceptance criteria, and tax impacts across calculations, content, and user experience
- Partner effectively with Product, IT, and cross-functional teams to ensure alignment, clear communication, and timely delivery of compliant solutions
- Utilize Azure DevOps to manage and track work items, ensuring visibility and accountability throughout the development lifecycle
- Analyze tax data structures and schemas using tools such as XML Spy to assess impacts to calculations and e-file processes
- Support resolution of complex tax issues, production defects, and regulatory inquiries, contributing to overall product quality
- Apply critical thinking and sound judgment to prioritize work, identify risks, and recommend solutions in a fast-paced environment
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or the equivalent through a combination of education and related work experience
- 5 years minimum tax related work or similar experience
- Strong working knowledge of federal and/or state tax law and regulations
- Demonstrated ability to research, interpret, and communicate complex tax concepts clearly and effectively
- Experience collaborating across multiple teams and functions to achieve business outcomes
- Ability to analyze problems, formulate solutions, and execute with a high degree of accuracy and accountability
- Proficiency with work management tools such as Azure DevOps or similar platforms
- Familiarity with XML/schema analysis or ability to quickly develop proficiency
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence and partner across all levels
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing regulatory and product needs
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA, Enrolled Agent (EA), or advanced tax-related certification
- 5–8+ years of experience in tax research, regulatory analysis, or tax software development
- Experience working within agile product teams or supporting software development lifecycles
- Prior experience translating tax law into product requirements, business rules, or system logic
- Familiarity with tax software (DIY or Assisted) and e-file processes
- Experience supporting Tax Regulatory Changes (TRCs) and acceptance criteria development
- Working knowledge of Azure DevOps and backlog/work item management practices
- Experience with XML/schema tools (e.g., XML Spy) or data structure analysis
- Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive alignment across stakeholders
