Job Summary and Responsibilities
As a Radiation Therapist, you will be responsible for accurately delivering prescribed courses of radiation therapy to cancer patients, ensuring clinical precision and patient comfort.Every day you will meticulously position patients, operate sophisticated radiation equipment, perform daily quality assurance checks, and carefully monitor patients throughout treatment, providing support and clear communication.To be successful, you will demonstrate exceptional technical proficiency, meticulous attention to detail, and compassionate patient care, crucial for safe and effective cancer treatment.
- Selects the most appropriate and efficient action plan after reviewing all pertinent data and assessing the patient's abilities and condition.
- Determines the need for and selects supplies, accessory equipment, shielding, positioning and immobilization devices.
- Verifies patient identification and the procedure requested or prescribed.
- Reviews all available patient medical record information to verify the appropriateness of the procedure requested or prescribed.
- Assesses factors that may negatively affect the procedure, such as medications, patient history, insufficient patient preparation or artifact producing objects.
- Recognizes signs and symptoms of an emergency.
Job Requirements
Required
- Certificate of training in Radiation Therapy
- Successful completion of an accredited education program in radiation therapy
- Registered Radiation Therapy Technologist (RRTT: AZ)
- Registered Technologist Radiation Therapy (RTT)
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support - CPR
- Advanced computer skills
Preferred
- Associates degree in radiation therapy
- One (1) year of experience
