Accountabilities:
- Support network buildouts, deployments, and infrastructure operations within a mission-critical test environment.
- Configure, administer, and troubleshoot VMware environments, including vSphere, NSX, and vSAN technologies.
- Perform virtualization administration activities including system upgrades, patching, remediation, break/fix support, and performance optimization.
- Conduct root-cause analysis for recurring or critical infrastructure issues and implement corrective solutions.
- Maintain foundational VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) infrastructure, including networking, storage, and virtualization components.
- Configure and manage NSX capabilities including distributed firewalling, NAT, load balancing, and micro-segmentation.
- Support the design, installation, migration, and maintenance of VMware vSAN storage environments.
- Assist with deployment and configuration of new virtual machines and workloads.
- Perform system monitoring, backup and restoration activities, application upgrades, and operational health checks.
- Support cybersecurity requirements through vulnerability remediation, security mitigation activities, and compliance practices.
- Maintain accurate documentation of system changes, configurations, and operational activities.
- Provide technical guidance and recommendations to government stakeholders regarding system performance, optimization, and improvements.
- Collaborate with system administrators, network engineers, and cybersecurity teams to maintain a stable and secure environment.
- Communicate technical findings and recommendations through written reports, presentations, and briefings.
- 10+ years of general professional work experience.
- 5+ years of directly related experience in network engineering, virtualization administration, or similar infrastructure roles.
- 1+ year of experience in a leadership or management capacity.
- Active DoW Secret Security Clearance required.
- Current DoW 8570 IAT Level II certification or higher (such as Security+ CE or CySA).
- Deep understanding of VMware Cloud Foundation infrastructure, including vSphere, NSX, and vSAN.
- Hands-on experience with SDDC Manager for patching, upgrades, and system maintenance.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts including DNS, HTTP, SMTP, SSL, firewalls, telecommunications infrastructure, and traffic flow.
- Experience configuring and troubleshooting NSX environments, including logical routing, security policies, NAT, and micro-segmentation.
- Experience designing, deploying, upgrading, and migrating VMware vSAN storage solutions.
- Ability to migrate workloads from legacy vSphere environments to modern VMware Cloud Foundation platforms.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience creating presentations and technical documentation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint and Visio or similar technical diagramming tools.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams while independently managing complex assignments.
- Experience with DoD communications systems, missile defense environments, or government mission operations.
- Knowledge of project management processes and lifecycle methodologies.
- Experience with VXLAN, multicast technologies, encryption devices, Juniper Apstra, VMware Aria, or RHEL Ansible.
- Experience with HPE server products.
- Experience creating and configuring virtual distributed switches.
- VMware certifications such as VCTA, VCP-DCV, VCAP Design, VCAP Deploy, or VCDX-DCV.
- Cisco CCNA or Juniper JNCIA certification.
- Experience with Python or PowerShell scripting.
- Degree in IT, engineering, or a related technical discipline.
