Accountabilities:
- Receive, review, and process requests for patient health information according to established policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure all medical record disclosures comply with authorization requirements, privacy standards, and HIPAA regulations.
- Safeguard confidential patient information and maintain secure handling of medical records throughout all processes.
- Respond to inbound and outbound calls from patients, insurance companies, attorneys, and other authorized requesters regarding medical record status.
- Retrieve, organize, prepare, and transmit medical records through appropriate systems and channels.
- Maintain accurate documentation across multiple platforms and electronic health record systems.
- Prepare patient charts, organize records in standard order, and ensure documentation is complete and accurate.
- Create digital images of paper documentation for storage within electronic medical record systems.
- Support administrative activities including data entry, fax management, mail handling, and scheduling record pickups when needed.
- Meet productivity, quality, and service expectations while adapting to changing priorities and workload demands.
- Collaborate with team members and managers to address workflow challenges and improve operational efficiency.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Basic computer skills and comfort using Microsoft Office applications, electronic systems, phones, fax machines, printers, and other office equipment.
- Strong data entry skills with a focus on accuracy and quality.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize responsibilities, and work effectively with minimal supervision.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume production environment.
- Detail-oriented approach with a strong commitment to protecting confidential information.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and operational needs.
- Experience in healthcare, medical records, customer service, or administrative environments is a plus.
- Previous experience working with productivity metrics, process improvement, or client-facing responsibilities is beneficial.
- Full-time temporary remote position with an expected duration of up to 6 months.
- Consistent weekday schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM PST.
