Role Overview
As a Manager, Product Design, you lead multiple Product Designers and initiatives across complex product areas, operating at a platform and organizational scale. This is a senior people-leadership role responsible for elevating design quality, scaling design impact, and developing high-performing design teams that deliver measurable business and user outcomes.
You balance strategic vision with operational excellence — shaping design strategy, influencing cross-functional priorities, and ensuring cohesive, high-quality experiences across Carvana’s ecosystem. You are deeply embedded with product, engineering, and business leadership, and you advocate relentlessly for user-centered, system-level thinking.
You are comfortable operating with urgency, navigating ambiguity, and making high-stakes decisions. You set a high bar for yourself and others, and you lead with clarity, empathy, and accountability.
What you’ll be doing
- Lead multiple Product Designers and design initiatives, ensuring alignment between user needs, business objectives, and technical constraints
- Operate at a platform and organizational level, influencing roadmaps, priorities, and strategic decisions across product clusters
- Define team goals, success metrics, and outcomes in partnership with product, engineering, and senior leadership
- Advocate for design as a driver of measurable impact across customer experience, efficiency, and innovation
- Own and drive design efforts on the most complex, high-visibility initiatives with broad organizational impact
- Anticipate future product and organizational needs, positioning the design team through scalable frameworks, systems, and processes
What you should have
- 10+ years of experience in Product Design or UX
- 3+ years in a formal people management role
- Proven success leading multiple teams and complex, cross-platform initiatives
- Deep expertise in design systems, UX strategy, and the product development lifecycle
- Demonstrated ability to influence strategy and outcomes at an organizational level
- Strong communication, storytelling, and stakeholder management skills
