Scrut Automation Associate – Taxation (Contract) 1 - 3 years India Part-Time Reports To: Assistant Manager – TaxationLocation: India (Remote)Employment Type: Contract (min duration 12 months)Experience Required: 1 – 3 yearsBudget: ₹6,00,000 – ₹8,00,000 per annumJob OverviewThis position supports the Assistant Manager – Taxation in executing day-to-day direct and indirect tax compliance, payroll processing, and documentation activities. The role is a blend of individual contribution and assistance — the incumbent will independently own specific compliance tasks while also supporting the Assistant Manager on broader taxation and payroll projects. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a small team.Job Responsibilities1. Tax Compliance SupportPrepare and assist in filing of TDS returns, Income Tax filings, and Professional Tax compliances within statutory timelines.Assist in preparation and filing of GST returns (GSTR 3B, GSTR 1, GSTR 9, etc.) under the guidance of the Assistant Manager.Support in compiling data and documentation for GST audits, assessments, and responses to tax notices.Maintain trackers for due dates and filing status across all tax compliances.2. Statutory Compliance AssistanceAssist in ensuring compliance with EPF, ESI, LWF, and other applicable labour law requirements.Prepare periodic statutory returns and challans for review and submission.Maintain records of statutory registrations and renewals.3. Payroll Processing SupportAssist in monthly salary calculations, including verification of tax deductions, PF, and other statutory contributions.Support timely and accurate payroll disbursement processes.Help administer employee benefits such as leave encashment, bonuses, and incentives.Maintain and update payroll data in the payroll system.4. Reconciliation and ReportingPerform GST Input-Output reconciliation with books of accounts under supervision.Assist in preparing payroll and tax reports for management review.Maintain accurate and organized documentation for all tax and payroll records.5. Audit and Documentation SupportCoordinate with the Assistant Manager to compile documents required for tax audits and statutory audits.Ensure proper filing, indexing, and secure storage of compliance documents.6. Cross-functional CoordinationLiaise with HR for payroll-related data (new joiners, exits, salary revisions, attendance/leave records).Support the Assistant Manager in ad-hoc tasks related to tax planning and process improvement.Key Skills & Requirements1–3 years of relevant experience in taxation, GST compliance, or payroll processing (experience in a CA firm, consultancy, or in-house tax/payroll function preferred).Working knowledge of Income Tax, TDS, GST, and payroll-related statutory compliances (EPF, ESI, LWF).Proficiency in MS Excel; familiarity with payroll or tax software is an advantage.Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines.Good communication skills and ability to work independently in a remote setup while collaborating closely with the reporting manager.Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Finance, or related field Apply for this job Share with someone awesome View all job openings
