Job Description
The Financial Analyst will support the design, implementation, testing, and adoption of future-state finance processes as part of Project RISE, American Express' multi-year transformation program to migrate Finance operations from Oracle EBS to Oracle Cloud. The role will partner closely with Finance, Controllership, Technology, Reporting, and consulting teams to drive process standardization, data-driven decision making, governance, and successful deployment of Oracle Cloud capabilities. Project RISE is intended to simplify processes, increase automation, reduce manual effort, improve controls, and enable advanced analytics and AI-driven insights.
Support the design and implementation of future-state finance processes within Oracle Accounting Hub Cloud (AHCS) and Secondary Ledger solutions, ensuring alignment with Project RISE principles of standardization, simplification, and automation.
Partner with Finance, Controllership, Reporting, and Technology teams to define scalable accounting and reporting solutions that support statutory, regulatory, management, and Local GAAP reporting requirements.
Assist in the governance, rationalization, and maintenance of accounting rules and accounting event models within Accounting Hub to promote consistency, control, and operational efficiency across the enterprise.
Support the design and validation of Secondary Ledger requirements, including accounting adjustments, reporting needs, reconciliations, and financial close processes.
Leverage data analytics, automation, and emerging AI capabilities to identify opportunities for process optimization, enhanced controls, and improved financial insight generation.
Analyze financial and operational data to support key design decisions, business requirements, testing activities, and future-state operating model development.
Participate in solution testing, data validation, reconciliation, and defect resolution activities to ensure accurate accounting and reporting outcomes across Oracle Cloud platforms.
Support reporting modernization initiatives by helping transition from legacy reporting approaches to standardized, self-service, and AI-enabled reporting capabilities.
Ensure finance processes and solutions incorporate strong governance, auditability, risk management, and control principles while meeting business and regulatory requirements.
Prepare executive-ready analyses, presentations, and recommendations while collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to drive successful delivery of Project RISE objectives.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
2–5 years of experience in Financial Systems, Accounting, Finance Transformation, ERP implementations, or Financial Reporting.
Foundational understanding of Oracle Financials, General Ledger, and end-to-end Record-to-Report (R2R) processes.
Knowledge of financial accounting concepts, journal processing, financial close, reporting, reconciliations, and accounting controls.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret business requirements and translate them into system and process solutions.
Experience working with cross-functional stakeholders in business and technology environments.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and data analysis techniques.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare executive-ready documentation and presentations.
