About the role
The Payment Network Division is seeking a Senior Product Manager – Technical to join the Next Edge program. The ideal candidate will be responsible for defining and delivering product strategy, roadmap, and outcomes for complex technology platforms and solutions. This role bridges business objectives and technical execution, working closely with engineering, architecture, operations, and stakeholders to deliver scalable, secure, and resilient products that create value for customers and the organization. As a Senior PMT, you are expected to perform the following general responsibilities:
• Responsible for understanding business needs, market opportunities, and technology trends
• Owns the vision for one or more features
• Decomposes business requirements and customer experiences into features and functions that drive the platform/product roadmap.
• Own and prioritize the product backlog, ensuring alignment with business objectives while remaining actively engaged throughout the end-to-end product development lifecycle.
• Works with Technical Program Managers, Software Engineers, and internal customers to define the details behind the business requirements
• Analyzes and interprets voice of the customer and product metrics as a feedback loop into the backlog and balances the priorities against new features
• Recommends trade-off decisions on platform product features/depth of features/backlog items
• Owns and manages product documentation ensuring features and associated documentation are clear and easily consumable by other engineering teams
• Demonstrate 'Mastercard Way' cultural values every day – create value, grow together and move fast – with a relentless focus on doing the right things

All about you
It is not expected that any single candidate would have expertise across all these areas.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of Product Management work experience
• 3+ years of experience as a Product Manager or Product Owner
• Strong Agile mindset with experience driving iterative product delivery and cross-functional collaboration in a large organization.
• Proficient at grooming features & user stories, setting entrance/exit criteria and prioritizing a platform product backlog
• Continuously monitors feature development at the feature level adjusting throughout implementation as needed
• Reviews product demo against acceptance criteria for the feature set
• Supports and participates in post-launch reviews and ensures feedback is reincorporated into the feature
• Stays aligned with GTM plans for the feature set
• Ability to engage effectively in technical discussions involving distributed and real-time systems, with knowledge of networking, routing, event-driven architectures, gRPC, scalability, resiliency, and system performance considerations. Familiarity with payments messages (ISO 8583/20022)
• Identifies issues that will keep the platform features from delivering on time and/or with the desired requirements and works with internal teams and customer service to identify, classify, and prioritize feature-level customer issues
• Enables self-service support and/or works to reduce overhead
• Take the time to fully learn the functionality, architecture, dependencies, and runtime properties of the systems involved with your projects. This includes the business requirements and associated use cases, Mastercard customer's experience, Mastercard's back-office systems, the technical slack (application/service architecture), interfaces and associated data flows, dependent applications/services, runtime operations (i.e., trouble management/associated support strategies), and maintenance.
• Understands and can explain the business context and the associated customer use cases
• Recognize discordant views and take part in constructive dialog to resolve them
• May participate with the business in customer research to inform platform product feature needs
• Improve team processes that accelerate delivery, drive innovation, lower costs, and improve quality
• Verbal and written communication is clear and concise

In line with Mastercard’s total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. The base salary offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Mastercard benefits for full time (and certain part time) employees generally include: insurance (including medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, disability, life insurance); flexible spending account and health savings account; paid leaves (including 16 weeks of new parent leave and up to 20 days of bereavement leave); 80 hours of Paid Sick and Safe Time, 25 days of vacation time and 5 personal days, pro-rated based on date of hire; 10 annual paid U.S. observed holidays; 401k with a best-in-class company match; deferred compensation for eligible roles; fitness reimbursement or on-site fitness facilities; eligibility for tuition reimbursement; and many more. O'Fallon, Missouri: $104,000 - $177,000 USD
