This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Data & Platform Engineer – Veterinary Technology based in Brazil.

This role sits at the core of a mission-critical data platform powering veterinary clinical software and AI-driven decision support systems used globally. You will take end-to-end ownership of a modern, cloud-native data ecosystem that supports ingestion, transformation, orchestration, and delivery of high-volume, high-integrity healthcare data. Working in a fully remote, high-ownership engineering environment, you will design and operate scalable data infrastructure that directly impacts clinical workflows and analytics used by veterinary professionals. The role requires a strong blend of data engineering, platform engineering, and DevOps expertise, with significant responsibility over reliability, performance, and cost efficiency. You will work across distributed systems, infrastructure-as-code, and orchestration tools while collaborating closely with product, analytics, and engineering teams. This is an opportunity to build and scale a production-grade data platform in a regulated, high-accuracy domain where data quality is critical.

Accountabilities:

Take full ownership of the data platform’s reliability, ensuring robust performance across ingestion pipelines, transformations, storage layers, and observability systems.

    • Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines using Apache Airflow, supporting both batch and near-real-time processing workflows.
    • Manage and optimize Snowflake data warehouse architecture, including schema design, clustering strategies, access control, and cost governance.
    • Develop and maintain dbt transformation models, including incremental processing strategies, dependency management, and documentation standards.
    • Deploy and operate platform services on Kubernetes (EKS), managing workloads, debugging production issues, and optimizing resource utilization.
    • Provision and manage infrastructure using Terraform across Snowflake, Airflow, and supporting cloud services.
    • Write high-quality SQL and Python code for ETL processes, data modeling, and platform automation.
    • Manage PostgreSQL operational databases, including query optimization, indexing, replication, and schema migrations.
    • Lead implementation of CDC-based ingestion pipelines using tools such as Debezium for real-time data streaming.
    • Build and maintain observability, alerting, and SLA monitoring using Datadog across the entire data platform.
    • Maintain CI/CD pipelines for data workflows, including DAG deployments, dbt runs, and infrastructure updates.
    • Collaborate with engineering, analytics, and product teams to deliver well-structured, high-quality data products.
    • Work within AWS environments (RDS, S3) to manage data-adjacent services and operational scaling.
    • Requirements:

5+ years of experience in data engineering or combined data/platform engineering roles, with a proven track record of building and operating production-grade data platforms.

      • Deep expertise in Snowflake, including performance tuning, schema design, access control, and cost optimization.
      • Strong hands-on experience with dbt and Apache Airflow, including DAG development, modeling patterns, testing, and troubleshooting.
      • Advanced proficiency in SQL and strong Python programming skills for ETL and automation workflows.
      • Working knowledge of Kubernetes (EKS), including deployment, debugging, and resource management.
      • Strong experience with Terraform for infrastructure provisioning in cloud-based data environments.
      • Hands-on experience with Datadog for monitoring, observability, and SLA tracking.
      • Familiarity with AWS services such as RDS and S3.
      • Experience with CI/CD practices for data engineering workflows and production deployments.
      • Strong understanding of data quality, lineage, and cataloging practices.
      • Familiarity with streaming and modern data architecture concepts (Kafka, Flink, Iceberg, Delta Lake) is highly valued.
      • Experience with CDC tools such as Debezium is a strong plus.
      • Exposure to healthcare, veterinary, or regulated data environments is preferred.
      • Bonus: experience with Redshift, Elixir/Erlang, Spot instances on EKS, or AI-assisted development tools.
      • Strong problem-solving skills, ownership mindset, and ability to work autonomously in a remote environment.
      • Benefits:

        • Fully remote role with flexibility to work from anywhere in Brazil.
        • Competitive USD-based compensation aligned with senior engineering expertise.
        • Paid time off to support rest, balance, and long-term performance.
        • High autonomy with a focus on outcomes rather than hours worked.
        • Opportunity to work on high-impact, production-grade data platforms used in the veterinary technology space.
        • Exposure to leading U.S.-based clients and globally distributed engineering teams.
        • Collaborative environment with senior-level engineers across multiple countries.
        • Long-term career growth in a global network of technical professionals.
