About the roleD-Wave is Seeking a Senior Software Developer to join our Processor Software team, which develops and maintains software supporting our internal Processor Development (PD), Hardware Engineering (HWE), and Lab Operations (LabOps) teams. This role focuses on developing the core software and infrastructure that interacts directly with our quantum processors across production and laboratory environments.The ideal candidate combines software engineering expertise with a strong understanding of physics, engineering, or hardware-integrated systems. You will collaborate closely with scientists, engineers, and software developers to solve complex technical challenges that enable the development and operation of our quantum computing systems, while mentoring junior team members and contributing to the team’s engineering best practices. What you'll doContribute to the full software lifecycle, including requirements definition, design, development, testing, validation, deployment, maintenance, and decommissioning Design, develop, and maintain software supporting quantum processor calibration, hardware interfaces, operational infrastructure, system testing, and monitoringTake ownership of and responsibility for bugfixes, enhancements, and new feature development for the processor software ecosystemImprove software architecture, reliability, maintainability, and performance through optimization, testing, and documentation Independently own development tasks and carry out technical investigations.Collaborate with scientists, engineers, and software teams to deliver initiatives spanning multiple teamsMentor junior developers through technical guidance, code reviews, and knowledge sharing to strengthen engineering capability across the teamContribute to process improvements, technical discussions, and development best practices Participate in an on-call rotation supporting ensuring the availability and performance of our QPU solvers on the Leap cloud platformAbout YouBachelor's degree in Engineering Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or a related discipline with demonstrated experience working on hardware-integrated systems5+ years of relevant software development experience designing and delivering complex software systemsExpertise developing high-performance software using compiled programming languages and multithreaded environmentsStrong understanding of software architecture, algorithms, concurrency, and performance optimization techniquesExperience designing, implementing, and optimizing software interfaces to hardware systemsExperience developing reliable, maintainable software for complex engineering or scientific applicationsExperience with Git workflows including branching, merging, and pull requestsExperience working in Linux environmentsExcellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skillsSelf-motivated, adaptable, and eager to learn new technologies and domains Bonus PointsExperience with Common Lisp (SBCL) or similar functional languages...
