Department introduction: Our ASIC Architecture team develops innovative controller solutions enabling next-generation data center storage products. We partner across architecture, design, firmware, and silicon teams to deliver high-performance, scalable, and reliable solutions. A key focus area is advancing system reliability and error correction technologies to meet the demanding requirements of modern data center workloads.
.Position overview: As an ASIC Engineer, you will contribute to the architecture, definition, and development of advanced controller solutions for next-generation data center storage products. The role spans IP and subsystem architecture, performance and reliability optimization, system modeling, and hardware implementation support. You will work closely with architecture, design, verification, and firmware teams to help define scalable, high-performance, and reliable controller solutions.A key aspect of the role includes developing Reliability, Availability, and Serviceability (RAS) mechanisms and advanced error correction technologies. In addition, the position will contribute to the architectural analysis of controller IPs and datapath subsystems, evaluate design trade-offs involving performance, power, area, and reliability, and support the development of innovative controller features. AI/ML techniques and data-driven methodologies will be leveraged to improve system modeling, architecture exploration, algorithm optimization, and design decision-making.
 Responsibilities

• Contribute to the definition and development of controller and IP architectures, evaluating tradeoffs across performance, power, area, scalability, and reliability
• Collaborate with SoC, design, firmware, and IP teams to define subsystem requirements and support controller integration activities
• Define, analyze, and improve reliability mechanisms including ECC, CRC, redundancy, and mitigation strategies across logic and memory subsystems
• Partner with the Media Architecture Group (MAG) to review LDPC algorithms, evaluate enhancements, and support hardware implementation
• Develop analytical models, simulations, and AI/ML-based methodologies to support architecture decisions and optimize system performance
• Participate in architectural studies and technology evaluations to improve future controller solutions
• Collaborate across teams to help deliver high-quality, scalable, performant, and reliable ASIC solutions

Minimum qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
• Experience in ASIC design, architecture, or related areas
• Knowledge of memory technologies (e.g., NAND, DRAM) and system-level reliability concepts
• Understanding of coding theory and error correction techniques (e.g., LDPC, BCH, Reed-Solomon)
• Experience with programming and data analysis (e.g., Python, MATLAB) and familiarity with AI/ML fundamentals

Preferred qualifications

• Experience with advanced reliability modeling or silicon/system-level analysis
• Knowledge of SSD controller architecture or high-performance SoC design
• Experience applying AI/ML techniques to engineering problems (modeling, optimization, or predictive analysis)
• Familiarity with hardware/software co-design and ECC pipeline implementation
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional, global engineering teams

The base salary range that Micron estimates it could pay in for this position full-time is:

43.000,00 € - 74.000,00 € per year, with B3 CCNL Level.

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target base pay for new hire salaries of the position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, tenure and relevant education or training.
