Biologist

This position is a Biologist, GS- 0401-12 working in Austin, TX or San Marcos, TX for the R2-Austin Ecological Services Field Office. Want to be in the vibrant Texas Hill Country? We are seeking a senior transportation biologist experienced with environmental challenges, good people and communication skills, and working knowledge of ESA section 7 policy and regulations. The position will join a team of 4 liaisons and coordinate on priority transportation projects statewide. As a Biologist your duties will include but are not limited to the following: The position will provide technical assistance and Endangered Species Act section 7 consultation to the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) on behalf of the Federal Highway Administration under an interagency agreement for priority transportation actions. The employee will work collaboratively with USFWS field offices and state agency staff to address transportation actions across the state of Texas. Duties may include producing programmatic consultation documents, developing species determination-keys, and other efficient and effective consultation and coordination actions with TxDOT as assigned.
