Project Director - Data Centre Projects (Vizag/ Mumbai/ Hyderabad/ Ahmedabad/ Chennai/ Delhi NCR)

Job Summary

JLL is seeking an elite Project Director to lead the planning, design, and execution of mission-critical data centre construction projects. In this specialized leadership role, you will oversee the delivery of hyperscale, colocation, and enterprise data centre facilities from initial concept through commissioning and handover. You will serve as the trusted advisor and primary point of contact for clients, managing complex stakeholder relationships and ensuring projects meet the most stringent uptime, reliability, and performance standards required in the data centre industry.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related technical field

  • Minimum 15+ years of project management experience with at least 5 years leading data centre construction projects

  • Proven track record of successfully delivering data centre projects through all phases from design through commissioning

  • Comprehensive understanding of mission-critical infrastructure including electrical systems (UPS, generators, switchgear, PDUs), mechanical systems (CRAC/CRAH units, chillers, cooling distribution), fire suppression, and building management systems

  • Deep knowledge of data center tier classifications (Tier I-IV) and industry standards including TIA-942, Uptime Institute certifications, and ASHRAE guidelines

  • Strong financial management skills with expertise in budget development, cost tracking, risk management, and value engineering for complex technical projects

  • Experience managing design-build, design-bid-build, and fast-track delivery methods in mission-critical environments

  • Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams including MEP engineers, commissioning agents, and specialty contractors

  • Excellent client management skills with experience serving hyperscale, colocation, enterprise, or government clients

  • Proficiency in project management platforms, scheduling software, and BIM coordination tools

  • PMP, PE, or equivalent professional certification

  • Understanding of data centre capacity planning, power density requirements, and cooling efficiency metrics (PUE, DCiE)

Required Qualifications (continued)

  • Strong risk management capabilities with experience in change order negotiation and dispute resolution

  • Ability to work in fast-paced environments with compressed schedules and demanding quality requirements

  • Excellent communication skills for technical and executive-level presentations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related technical discipline

  • 15+ years of experience with significant focus on hyperscale or large colocation data centre projects (20MW to 50MW+ critical load)

  • Experience delivering multiple data centre projects exceeding $100M in construction value

  • Background in modular data centre construction, prefabricated solutions, or innovative delivery methodologies

  • Expertise in advanced cooling technologies including liquid cooling, immersion cooling, or direct-to-chip solutions

  • Experience with renewable energy integration, energy storage systems, and sustainability initiatives in data centre design

  • Knowledge of edge data centre deployments, 5G infrastructure, or distributed computing facilities

  • Proficiency in commissioning oversight and integrated systems testing for mission-critical facilities

  • Familiarity with cybersecurity considerations in data centre construction and physical security systems

  • Experience navigating complex utility coordination, power procurement, and substation development

  • Track record working with hyperscale cloud providers (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud) or major colocation operators

  • Additional certifications such as CDCP (Certified Data Centre Professional), CDCS (Certified Data Centre Specialist), LEED AP, or Uptime Institute ATD/ATS

  • International data centre project experience across multiple markets

  • Understanding of AI/ML infrastructure requirements and high-performance computing environments

  • Demonstrated innovation in construction methodology, schedule compression, or cost optimization

  • Established relationships with specialized MEP contractors, commissioning authorities, and equipment manufacturers

  • Thought leadership through industry conference speaking, technical publications, or standards committee participation
