Accountabilities:
- Design, build, and maintain scalable, secure, and maintainable platform architectures and backend services.
- Develop backend applications using strongly typed programming languages such as C# or TypeScript, including functional programming approaches where applicable.
- Build and improve services, APIs, and infrastructure components that support reliable product experiences.
- Work with SQL and NoSQL databases, with experience in PostgreSQL preferred, to create efficient and scalable data solutions.
- Contribute to long-term architectural planning, technical strategy, and platform-wide improvements.
- Identify opportunities to reduce technical debt, improve system performance, and enhance engineering efficiency.
- Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines, Git workflows, and Infrastructure as Code practices.
- Apply security best practices across applications and infrastructure, including secure coding, vulnerability management, and secrets handling.
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues and act as a subject matter expert for system reliability and performance.
- Collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams to define requirements, scope projects, and deliver impactful solutions.
- Mentor junior engineers through coaching, code reviews, pairing, and technical guidance.
- Promote engineering best practices, Agile methodologies, and a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Stay current with emerging technologies in distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, AI/ML applications, and secure software development.
- 7+ years of progressive software engineering experience, including technical leadership responsibilities.
- Strong knowledge of modern software development practices, architecture patterns, and engineering principles.
- Experience designing and building secure, scalable, and maintainable platforms.
- Proficiency or ability to quickly ramp up with typed programming languages such as C# or TypeScript.
- Experience developing backend services and working with APIs, distributed systems, and cloud-based applications.
- Strong experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, with PostgreSQL expertise preferred.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or equivalent cloud environments.
- Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and modern infrastructure practices.
- Strong understanding of DevOps practices, including Git, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code.
- Knowledge of application security, infrastructure security, testing strategies, and automation practices.
- Experience optimizing systems for performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Interest in applying AI and machine learning capabilities within production systems.
- Ability to solve complex problems in ambiguous environments and make strategic technical decisions.
- Experience working with Agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong mentoring skills and commitment to developing engineering talent.
