This position provides assistance to the Director of Enforcement in executive direction, guidance, and all matters pertaining to administrative enforcement to the managers in the Regional and District Offices in developing, planning and carrying out Wage and Hour programs throughout the Region. This position is outside the bargainng unit.
As a GS-13 Supervisory Wage and Hour Specialist, duties will consist of, but are not limited to the following: Assisting the Director of enforcement in coordinating the development of integrated plans, local policies, guidelines, systems, and procedures for Wage and Hour enforcement program activities in the region. Evaluates the overall impact and effectiveness of assigned Wage and Hour enforcement programs in the region in meeting the needs of national program goals. Evaluating the appropriateness of cases for litigation, or administrative hearing action, evaluates all aspects of the case, ensures that all findings are supported by testimony and other exhibit material, and determines whether further investment of WHD and SOL. As the Deputy Director of Enforcement, serves as the focal point to identify and resolve Wage and Hour District Offices enforcement issues in the programmatic, technical, and procedural areas. Responsible for providing constructive feedback to the District Offices regarding their accomplishment and/or deficiencies concerning annual operational plans to ensure that regional goals are met. Ensure the goals and policies are met within the organization supervised and that individual performance as a supervisor and member of the management team fully supports these goals and policies. Assists the Director of Enforcement with the enforcement activities of the District Offices in the WHD Region that area responsible for conducting investigations of businesses to ensure compliance with all the laws that WHD is responsible for enforcing. Serves as a liaison between these District Offices and the Offices of the U.S. DOL's Solicitor (SOL), while also assists in planning, developing, and actively participating in an aggressive public relations, information, and educational program regarding enforcement activities and targeted industry initiatives within the Region. Ensure that goals and policies are met within the organization supervised and that individual performance as a supervisor and member of the management team fully supports these goals and policies. Applies the WHD policies and practices personally and ensures that all members of the staff do the same. Maintaining liaison with local, State, Federal and other public officials as well as speaking before and holding training seminars with industry employers, trade associations, labor organizations, and special Interest public groups for purposes of providing technical information concerning the requirements, interpretations and application of the laws enforced by WHD.
