Accountabilities:

    The Account Manager, Small Plastics - Midwest will be responsible for managing customer relationships, growing sales performance, and executing strategic business development initiatives across an assigned territory. This role requires a customer-focused sales professional who can identify opportunities, negotiate effectively, and collaborate with internal teams to achieve commercial objectives.

    • Manage a defined sales territory and achieve revenue, volume, and profitability targets through effective sales execution.
    • Maintain and expand existing customer relationships while identifying and developing new business opportunities.
    • Build strategic account plans and align internal resources around customer growth initiatives.
    • Develop, present, and negotiate pricing proposals, customer agreements, and commercial terms.
    • Qualify sales opportunities, manage pipelines, and drive opportunities from prospecting through closing.
    • Execute pricing strategies and account improvement initiatives to maximize profitability.
    • Forecast monthly and quarterly sales performance accurately and proactively address business risks.
    • Monitor customer demand, product mix, and operational considerations to support business growth.
    • Coordinate customer visits, product trials, technical discussions, and facility tours to support sales initiatives.
    • Collaborate with customer service, supply chain, operations, marketing, and other internal teams to deliver strong customer experiences.
    • Maintain accurate CRM records, sales forecasts, opportunity tracking, and customer information.
    • Address customer concerns related to quality, service, or delivery while coordinating effective solutions.
    • Develop relationships with customer stakeholders across purchasing, operations, engineering, and leadership teams.
    • Promote safe, ethical, and compliant business practices throughout all interactions.
    • Requirements:

      The ideal candidate brings a strong background in territory sales, account management, or business development, with the ability to manage complex customer relationships and drive profitable growth. Success in this role requires strong communication skills, commercial expertise, and the ability to operate independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

      • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Sales, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
      • 4–8 years of experience in sales, account management, business development, or a similar customer-facing commercial role.
      • Proven success managing customer accounts and expanding business within an assigned territory.
      • Strong negotiation, presentation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
      • Experience creating proposals, managing pricing discussions, and negotiating agreements.
      • Demonstrated ability to prospect, qualify opportunities, and close sales.
      • Experience using CRM platforms and sales forecasting tools.
      • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and customer needs.
      • Ability to work independently while partnering effectively with internal teams.
      • Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% within the assigned territory.
      • Experience in manufacturing, industrial, plastics, or packaging sales is preferred.
      • Knowledge of HDPE blow molding for rigid containers is highly preferred.
      • Experience selling portable fuel containers or similar products within retail markets is a plus.
      • Benefits:

        • Total target compensation range of $125,100 – $200,200, including sales incentives.
        • Competitive new hire compensation range typically between $130,000 – $160,000 depending on experience, skills, market conditions, and location.
